Dalton Brooks (born December 24, 2004) [1] is an American football safety for the Texas A&M Aggies.
Brooks attended high school at Shiner located in Shiner, Texas. In the 2020 State Championship game, Brooks totaled two rushing touchdowns as, he was named the game's offensive MVP as he helped his school to a state tittle over Post High School. [2] He finished his junior season, posting 2,616 yards and 39 touchdowns on the ground, while notching 150 tackles and three interceptions on defensive, en route to another state title win. [3] Coming out of high school, Brooks was rated as a four star recruit, where he held offers from school such as Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, and Texas A&M. [4] Ultimately, he committed to play college football for the Texas A&M Aggies. [5]
During the 2023 Texas Bowl, Brooks hauled in his first collegiate interception in a win against Oklahoma State. [6] He finished his freshman season in 2023, recording 18 tackles and an interception. [7] In week one of the 2024 season, Brooks was ejected shortly into the first quarter for targeting on Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard. [8] In week three, he recorded just one tackle in a victory over Florida, before being ejected for targeting for the second time in the 2024 season. [9] In the regular season finale, Brooks totaled ten tackles against rival #3 Texas. [7] He finished the 2024 season, appearing in all 13 games with eight starts, notching 59 tackles with five and a half being for a loss. [10]
Dalton Darnell Brooks was involved in an hit and run incident that happened on the night of, June 25. 2025. Police say Brooks was driving a U-Haul box truck and collided with another vehicle in the intersection of Harvey Road at Highway 6. The report says Brooks told police he briefly stopped after the crash, looked in the mirror, saw the driver of the other vehicle wasn't seriously hurt, and then "proceeded to panic" and drove away. Brooks did not receive a ticket or a warning from the officer. Witnesses followed Brooks and called 911, and stayed behind the U-Haul until police arrived and stopped it. Brooks said he was trying to return the U-Haul to the business. The report says there was significant damage to the U-Haul truck, including the driver's side headlight removed and hanging by wires and the bumper was dented, and both the front driver and passenger airbag was deployed. The car he allegedly hit also had significant damage. The vehicle was declared a total loss with the cost being $19,191, said the report. Police said nearby cameras captured the crash on camera, and it shows Brooks leaving the scene of the wreck after it happened.
