Damdep-I (also known as New Jognasury-I) is a village located in the southern part of the Chakma Autonomous District Council in the Lawngtlai District of the state of Mizoram, India.

Politics

The governance of Damdep-I is carried out through the Village Executive Committee, which consists of the Village Council President (VCP), five members, and a Dakkhirani. The village falls under the 16-Damdep MDC Constituency, which comprises seven village councils, including Damdep-I, Damdep-III, Dursora, Chotoguisury-I, Chotoguisury-II, Fulsora, and Silbanga. The present Member of District Council (MDC) representing the 16-Damdep MDC constituency is Dangu Hiranand Tongchangya. [2]

Boroituli is an Indian village in Lawngtlai district and Mizoram State. The population is approximately 400 people, and is ethnically composed of both Chakma and Tongchangya peoples. It is situated near the River Thega and as per the map of Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) the River Thega lies to the west, New Jagnasury to east, Jaruldubosora to the north, and New Chippui to its south. It is in the eastern region of the CADC. Agriculture and the cultivation of Jhum are the main sources of subsistence. Boroituli contains a co-educational primary and middle school, which as of 2016 catered for a student body of boys and girls, with a staff.

Dr. Buddha Dhan Chakma is an Indian politician representing Tuichawng in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly. Formerly a Congress member, he is the first candidate of the BJP to win a seat for the party in the state.

Nirupam Chakma is an Indian politician from Mizoram state in India. He represented Tuichawng in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly. Formerly a Congress minister, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2015 and was offered ticket of Bharatiya Janata Party to the lone Lok Sabha seat of Mizoram in the last election held in 2019. He was the first Minister in Mizoram from Chakma Community.
