It is named after the Irish Fenian, Brian Dillon and its original clubhouse was less than 100 metres from Dillon's home. Dromtarriffe is a small townland, as well as being the name of the parish in the same area. It is not a village, but the parish is centred on the very small village of Dromagh, which is around half a mile from the townland of Dromtarriffe.
The South West Junior A Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Carbery Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1926 for junior Gaelic football teams in the Barony of Carbery in County Cork, Ireland.

The 2020 Cork Junior A Football Championship was the 122nd staging of the Cork Junior A Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1895. The championship was suspended indefinitely due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, but began on 19 June 2021 and ended on 7 August 2021.
