Dan Adams (born October 20, 1984) is a former American football linebacker. Adams attended the College of the Holy Cross, [1] where he holds the current NCAA record for most unassisted tackles in a game (21) against Colgate University on October 22, 2005. [2] An undersized middle linebacker, [3] Adams led the NCAA in 2005 in unassisted tackles (91) [4] and finished 9th all time in total tackles at College Holy Cross (317). [5]
Following graduation and the end of his collegiate career, Adams represented the US National Team in the 2007 IFAF World Championships in Kawasaki, Japan. Under head coach John Mackovic, the team, composed of 45 collegiate athletes, won gold while appearing on the NFL Network. [6]
Adams was born in Fairfax, Virginia to Ron and Carol Adams. His father, Ron, played college football at Catawba College and was inducted into the school's hall of fame in 2000. [7]
Adams played in all 12 games as a linebacker and on special teams, making three starts. He led all Crusader freshmen in tackles with 36, including 26 solo stops. [1]
He played in all 11 games on the year, starting four times and ranked second on the team with 57 total tackles, including 43 solo stops. He placed 22nd in the Patriot League in total tackles and posted a season-high 13 tackles against Bucknell. [1]
Adams started all 11 games on the season and was named All-Patriot League by the Sports Xchange. He led the team with 115 total tackles on the year, including 97 solo stops and four tackles for loss. He led the nation in solo tackles, while ranking 21st in total tackles. [1]
Adams led the Holy Cross defense with 109 total tackles on the season, including 91 solo stops, 13 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and three pass breakups. Adams ranked sixth in the nation in solo tackles, 23rd in total tackles and 47th in tackles for loss. He reached double-figures in tackles seven times on the season, while leading the team in tackles in nine out of 11 games. Over the course of his four-year career as a Crusader, Adams totaled 317 total tackles, 257 solo stops, 19 tackles for loss and 2 INT's. [1]
He was awarded New England Football Writer's Gold Helmet Award, [8] WTAG Defensive Player of The Year, and The Rick Carter Memorial Trophy. [9]
In 2009, Adams competed as a contestant on Season 4 of Pros vs. Joes (All Stars) on SpikeTV against Pacman Jones, Rich Gannon, and Priest Holmes. [10] In the episode entitled, "The Fight", Adams got into an altercation with Pacman Jones following a goal line tackle that forced Jones to fumble. [11] [12]
In 2012, he co-created the ESPY Award winning initiative, Mission Kilimanjaro, [13] that enabled congenital amputee, Kyle Maynard, to crawl to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro without assistance. Adams served as the expedition co-leader, helping Maynard prepare for the climb while also assisting with fundraising and logistics. [14] The footage captured on the climb aired on ESPN Outside The Lines in 2012. [15]
Tedy Lacap Bruschi is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons. He played college football for the Arizona Wildcats, where he earned two-time consensus All-American. He was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 1996 NFL draft, and played his entire professional career with them. Bruschi won three Super Bowls and was a two-time second-team All-Pro selection.
Joseph Eugene Porter Sr. is an American professional football coach and former player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Colorado State Rams and was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 1999 NFL draft. A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Porter won Super Bowl XL with the Steelers and was also a member of the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals. The Steelers drafted his son, Joey Porter Jr., with the thirty-second overall selection of the 2023 NFL draft.
Teddy Lehman is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, and was twice recognized as a consensus All-American. The Detroit Lions chose him in the second round of the 2004 NFL draft, and he also played for the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL, and the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League (UFL).
Aaron James Hawk is an American sports analyst and former professional football linebacker who played for 11 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Green Bay Packers fifth overall in the 2006 NFL draft and he later won Super Bowl XLV with the team. He was also a member of the Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he earned All-American honors twice and won the Lombardi Award as a senior. He won the BCS National Championship Game with the Buckeyes as a freshman.
Robert Joseph Carpenter III is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL), primarily with the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and was selected by the Cowboys in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft. He also played in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins, the Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots.
Lawrence Olajuwon Timmons is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft. He won Super Bowl XLIII with the Steelers the following year, and played in Super Bowl XLV two years later. He played college football for the Florida State Seminoles.
Jerod Mayo Sr. is an American professional football coach and former linebacker who is the head coach of the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He previously played with the Patriots for eight seasons. Mayo played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers and was selected by the Patriots tenth overall in the 2008 NFL draft.
Nigel Bradham is a former American football linebacker. He played college football at Florida State University. He was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft, and played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2016 to 2019.
Qualin Dont'a Hightower is an American football coach and former linebacker who is the inside linebackers coach for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He previously played in the NFL for nine seasons with the Patriots. Hightower played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide, receiving consensus All-American honors and winning two BCS National Championships. Selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Patriots, he was named to two Pro Bowls and won three Super Bowl titles.
Danny Eugene Trevathan is a former American football linebacker. He was selected by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL draft. He played college football at Kentucky, where in 2010, he was named an All-American by College Football News and was a first-team all-SEC selection.
Jarvis Jerrell Jones is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs, and was recognized as a consensus All-American twice. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft, playing for them for four seasons before retiring following a short stint with the Arizona Cardinals in 2017.

Vincent Salvatore Sunseri is a former American football safety and coach who is the safeties coach for the Washington Huskies. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL draft. He played college football at Alabama and in addition served as a graduate assistant at the university in 2019.
Kyle Van Noy is an American professional football linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). Van Noy played college football at BYU. He was selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions, with whom he spent his first three seasons. Van Noy played his next four seasons for the New England Patriots, where he won Super Bowl LI and Super Bowl LIII. Following a year as a member of the Miami Dolphins, he rejoined New England in 2021. Van Noy signed with the Los Angeles Chargers the following season.

Jamie Lee Collins Sr. is an American former professional football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons, primarily with the New England Patriots. He played college football for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles and was selected by the Patriots in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft. As a member of the Patriots for seven non-consecutive seasons, Collins earned Pro Bowl honors in 2015 when he led the league in forced fumbles and also won Super Bowl XLIX. Outside of his New England tenure, he played three seasons with the Cleveland Browns and two with the Detroit Lions.

He played college football at Sacramento State University and attended Paraclete High School in Lancaster, California. He was a member of the New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants. Davis retired in 2021 at the age of 29.

He was signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2015 and won Super Bowl LI and Super Bowl LIII with the Patriots. He played college football at Auburn in his final two years of collegiate eligibility, after spending his freshman and sophomore seasons playing at Highland Community College.
De'Vondre Campbell is an American professional football linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Hutchinson Community College before transferring to Minnesota and was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft. Campbell has also played for the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers.
Elandon Roberts is an American professional football linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Houston. He was selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft. He plays primarily as a linebacker on defense, but when injuries during the 2019 season left the Patriots without a fullback on the roster, Roberts began to play that position as well.
