Danella Ilene Kurniawan (born February 20, 1996) is an Indonesian model, entrepreneur, and the winner of the first cycle of Indonesia's Next Top Model. [1] [2]

Early life and education

Danella Ilene Kurniawan was born on February 20, 1996, in Bali to Kurniawan Kristiandi and Rosana Rosadiama, who are of Chinese descent. Her father worked as a sociology teacher. Ilene has two older sisters named Priscilla Ivy and Raphaela Inez. Despite being born in Bali, Ilene grew up in Bandung. [3]

In 2015, she started her higher studies at Christian University, pursuing a bachelor's degree in English Literature. In 2016, she decided to transfer to the English Language program at the same university, completing her studies in 2019.

Indonesia's Next Top Model

Ilene was one of the contestants on Indonesia's Next Top Model season 1 representing Bali, which aired at the end of 2020. Ilene achieved four best photos, including a photoshoot themed "Pose with appropriate expressions in splashes of color," Aerial Hoop Photoshoot representing the character of each color of Ellips Hair Vitamin products, Pose Black Angel with Ellips Hair Vitamin, TVC The Matador with Honda HR-V where it was divided into three scenes; beauty pose, Salsa Dance, and Matador action, Avant-garde Fashion at Kawah Putih, and The Nusantara Ethnic (Nusantara Ethnic). Ilene's name became more widely known because in one episode she shared that she had experienced depression and was diagnosed with an eating disorder, which became controversial due to comments from Deddy Corbuzier and Luna Maya that were considered to underestimate mental health. [5] [6] [7]

Luna Maya and Panca Makmun returned as host and resident judge, while Deddy Corbuzier and Patricia Gouw were replaced by guest judge and mentor from the first cycle, Ivan Gunawan and Ayu Gani. This cycle's prizes are cash amounting to hundreds of millions of Rupiahs, an all new Suzuki XL7 car unit, as well as Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G which also served as the official partner for this cycle.
