The following are the results of the Skeet competition at the 1972 Summer Olympics. All three medalists had a tied score of 195. A shoot off was held, in the shoot off 1970 world champion, Konrad Wirnhier of West Germany hit all 25 birds to claim the gold. Earlier in the competition co-world record holder Yury Tsuranov of the Soviet Union disagreed with a ruling on a lost bird, and walked off the field. For his actions he penalized three birds. This brought his score down to 192, exactly three birds short for the shoot off for the gold medal.

Shooting competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo were originally scheduled from 25 July to 3 August 2020, due to the postponement of the Summer Olympics to 2021, the rescheduled dates were on 24 July to 2 August 2021 at the Asaka Shooting Range. Unlike in 2016, the number of shooters competing across fifteen events at these Games had been reduced from 390 to 360, with an equal distribution between men and women. Furthermore, several significant changes were instituted in the Olympic shooting program, including the substitution of three male-only events, with the mixed team competitions.

Shooting competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from July 12 to 19 at the Toronto International Trap and Skeet Club in Innisfil. The competition was split into three disciplines, pistol, rifle and shotgun, which were further divided into different events. Men competed in nine events, with the women competing in six events for a total of 15 gold medals awarded.

Hendrikus "Hennie" Dompeling was a Dutch sport shooter. He was born in Haarlemmermeer. He has competed for the Netherlands in skeet shooting at five Olympics, and has been close to an Olympic medal in 2000. Outside the Olympic career, Dompeling has produced a phenomenal record of twenty-one medals in a major international competition: two bronze at the World Championships, a total of four at the ISSF World Cup final, a total of nine at numerous ISSF World Cup meets, and a total of six under both junior and senior category at the European Championships.

At the 2021 ISSF World Cup in New Delhi, Sekhon became the first Indian to win a medal in the Women's skeet event of an ISSF World Cup. She is right handed and is right eye dominant. She is part of the Indian shooting team at the Asian Games, Hangzhou, China. She was part of the Indian women's skeet team along with Darshna Rathore and Parinaaz Dhaliwal, that finished fourth in the Asian Games shooting competitions.

The Men's skeet event at the 2023 Pan American Games took place on 21 and 22 October at the Polígono de Tiro de Pudahuel. The current Olympic champion Vincent Hancock confirmed gold, Argentine Federico Gil won silver, and bronze medalist in Lima, Nicolás Pacheco, repeated the feat once again.

The mixed pairs skeet competition of the shooting events at the 2023 Pan American Games was held on October 24 at Polígono de tiro de Pudahuel in Santiago, Chile.
