Daniel Da Prato (born October 2, 1981) [1] is an American football coach and former player. He is the special teams coordinator at Texas State University. He was the interim head football coach at University of South Florida for the final three games of the 2022 season following the firing of Jeff Scott.

Playing career

Da Prato was born in Sacramento, California, and grew up in Modesto, California. His father, Steve Da Prato, is a football coach and athletic administrator. Daniel attended Fred C. Beyer High School, where he played quarterback. At the time, his father was the head football coach at Modesto Junior College. Steve moved to New Mexico Highlands University for the 2000 season and then Chabot College in Hayward, California, in 2001. Daniel followed him through these moves, playing quarterback at both schools before transferring to Louisiana–Monroe for the 2002 and 2003 seasons. [2]

Coaching career

Da Prato began his coaching career in 2004 as a graduate assistant at Louisiana–Monroe under head coach Charlie Weatherbie. [2] He was named director of football operations in 2006. In 2007, he returned to Northern California as wide receivers coach at California State University, Sacramento under new head coach Marshall Sperbeck. [3] Da Prato coached at Sacramento State for six seasons, adding the special teams coordinator title in 2010. [4] Da Prato resigned from Sacramento State in March 2013 to become the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, under head coach Rob Ash. Da Prato replaced Erik Link, who departed to become an analyst at Auburn University. [5]

Montana State fired Ash after the 2015 season. [6] Da Prato joined the University of Colorado Boulder staff under Mike MacIntyre in 2016 as offensive quality control coach. Colorado fired MacIntyre after the 2018 season, and Da Prato moved to the University of Arkansas as special teams quality control coach. [7] That job ended after one season when Arkansas fired head coach Chad Morris during a disastrous 2019 season. Special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. became interim head coach, and Da Prato took over the special teams coordinator role for the remainder of the season. [8]

Following the 2019 season, the University of South Florida hired Da Prato to be special teams coordinator under new head coach Jeff Scott. [9] South Florida fired Scott on November 6, 2022, with three games remaining in the regular season, and named Da Prato the interim head coach. [10]

Robert Patrick Petrino is an American football coach. He currently serves as the offensive coordinator for the Texas A&M Aggies. He is the former head coach for the Missouri State Bears. Previously, he served as the head coach of the Louisville Cardinals football team from 2014 until being fired during the 2018 season. He previously held the post from 2003 to 2006. From 2008 to 2011, Petrino was the head football coach at the University of Arkansas. He was dismissed from that position in the spring of 2012 for covering up an extramarital affair with a football department staffer. Petrino also coached the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL) for the first 13 games of the 2007 season. Petrino was in a Falcons team meeting when he told his staffers that he was hungry and left to get something to eat. Hours later, he still hadn’t returned. Staffers were extremely worried but then a staffer broke the news that he was being introduced as the new Head Coach of Arkansas on TV. While they thought he was out getting lunch, he was actually on a plane to Fayetteville. He spent the 2013 season as head football coach of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and 2020–2022 seasons as the head coach of the Missouri State Bears. He briefly was the Offensive Coordinator for the UNLV Rebels during the winter of 2022-23, but did not coach a game.

The South Florida Bulls football team represents the University of South Florida. The Bulls began playing in 1997 and compete in the American Athletic Conference of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The team plays its home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Kerwin Douglas Bell is an American football coach and former player who has been the head coach of the Western Carolina Catamounts football team since 2021. Bell was born in the rural North Central Florida town of Live Oak and was a star high school football quarterback at Lafayette County High School. Though he led the Lafayette Hornets to their only state championship, he did not attract the attention of top college football programs while playing at the small high school. He enrolled at the University of Florida, made the football team as a walk-on, and was redshirted during his freshman season of 1983.

The 2017 South Florida Bulls football team represented the University of South Florida (USF) in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They played their home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, and were led by first-year head coach Charlie Strong. The Bulls competed as members of the East Division of the American Athletic Conference. They finished the season 10–2, 6–2 in AAC play to finish in second place in the East Division.
