Daniel Solomon Dines (born January 1972) [2] is a Romanian billionaire entrepreneur, and the co-founder and executive chairman of UiPath, a robotic process automation platform. Forbes nicknamed him the Boss of the Bots, becoming the first bot billionaire. [3]

As of March 2024, Dines was the wealthiest person in Romania, with an estimated net worth of US$2.7 billion. [4]

Early life

Dines' father was an engineer and his mother a teacher. [5] Dines earned a degree from the University of Bucharest. [4] He was a self-taught programmer. [3]

Career

Dines worked for Microsoft in Seattle, Washington, US, from 2000 to 2005, then later returned to Romania. [6] Dines started DeskOver in 2005 in Bucharest, Romania, and later renamed it UiPath and moved its headquarters to New York City in 2018. [4] He has stated that he wanted UiPath to be a kind of Romanian Google or Facebook. [6]

Philanthropy

In April 2019, Dines donated €1 million to help rebuild Notre-Dame. [7]

Dan Petrescu was a Romanian businessman and billionaire, among the richest people in Romania. Born in 1953 in Bucharest, Petrescu studied at the Politehnica University of Bucharest. After graduating, Petrescu married his wife Regina Dorotea Petrescu Balzat, with whom he had a son, Dan Ștefan Petrescu, and emigrated to West Germany. There, he met who would be his economic partner for years, Ion Țiriac, another Romanian businessman. They were involved in several businesses together and returned to Romania following the Romanian Revolution.
