Daniel Fernandes (born 2 August 1984) is an Indian stand-up comedian. He is known for his dark and surreal style of comedy, which references social issues in India. [2]

Early life

Fernandes was born in Mumbai and was raised in Goa. [3] He received his MBA in marketing from Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication, Pune. [4]

Career

Based in Mumbai, Fernandes regularly performs at comedy clubs including Canvas Laugh Club, [2] [5] The Comedy Store, [6] Blue Frog [7] [8] and High Spirits. [9] In his comedic material and interviews, Fernandes is known to cover Indian social issues including free speech, [1] student suicide, [4] death penalty and marital rape. [10] [2] He collaborated with several Indian stand-up comedians including Gursimran Khamba, [7] Aditi Mittal, [11] Biswa Kalyan Rath, [12] Sundeep Rao, Radhika Vaz, [13] Abish Mathew and Kanan Gill. [5] [14]

In October 2015, Fernandes accompanied Nawazuddin Siddiqui for promotions of the 2015 biographical film, Manjhi: The Mountain Man . [15] In March 2015, he hosted Forbes India's entrepreneurial awards event, 30Under30. [16]

Daniel Dwight Tosh is an American comedian, writer, and producer. After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in marketing, Tosh moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy. His career accelerated in 2001 after a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman. He would go on to appear in other national shows, leading to his own 30-minute special on Comedy Central Presents two years later. Kaneez Surka is a South African improv artist, actress, comedian and a YouTuber of an Indian descent, who works mainly in India. She started her career with the show The Week That Wasn't. She has performed on various stand up platforms. She was a judge on the first two seasons of the Amazon Prime Video stand-up comedy reality show Comicstaan. She also hosts an online comedy game show, The General Fun Game Show on YouTube.

Thackeray is a 2019 Indian biographical film written and directed by Abhijit Panse and made simultaneously in Marathi and Hindi. The film follows the life of Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder of the Indian political party Shiv Sena. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Thackeray and Amrita Rao as his wife. The film released on 25 January 2019, right after the 93rd birthday of Bal Thackeray.

One Mic Stand is an Indian standup comedy television show series created by Only Much Louder for Amazon Video. It is not like a typical standup comedy show in that it hosts India's famous actors, politicians, influencers, writers and musicians who are trained by Comedians to perform standup comedy for first time. This series has 2 seasons on Amazon Prime Video and both seasons are hosted by comedian Sapan Verma.
