Daniel Gilmore (born 2 March 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer for the Fremantle Dockers in the Australian Football League.
Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, or simply called Aussie rules, football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of eighteen players on an oval-shaped field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval-shaped ball between goal posts or between behind posts.

After playing nine games in 2004, he had a frustrating 2005, only playing two games and appearing emergency nine times. After playing mainly as a defender or wingman, in 2006 he was tried as a reserve ruckman due to injuries to regular ruckmen Aaron Sandilands and Justin Longmuir. At 91 kg and 191 cm tall he is much shorter than most other ruckmen and has to rely on his leap, speed and endurance to compete.
Aaron Sandilands is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). At 211 cm tall, and with a peak weight of 120 kg (265 lb), he is the heaviest and equal tallest player to ever play in the AFL.
Justin Longmuir is an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. He was a key position forward or ruckman who played for the Fremantle Football Club. Longmuir's nickname, based on his initials, is J-Lo.
In 2007, he continued to play as a ruckman because of long term injuries to Longmuir and Sandilands, and towards the end of the season produced some of his best football, gaining more than 20 disposals in 4 consecutive games, including a career high 31 against Essendon in round 19.

Thought to have formed in 1872, the club played its first recorded game on 7 June 1873 against a Carlton Second 20, winning 1 goal to nil. The club played a senior club in the Victorian Football Association in 1878, one year after the VFA formed. It is historically associated with Essendon, a suburb in the north-west of Melbourne, Victoria. Since 2013, the club has been headquartered at The Hangar, Melbourne Airport, and plays its home games at either Docklands Stadium or the Melbourne Cricket Ground; throughout most of its history the club's home ground and headquarters was Windy Hill, Essendon, where it played from 1922 until 1991. When not playing for Fremantle, Gilmore played for South Fremantle in the WAFL and in 2005 was a member of their premiership side and finished in the top 10 for the Sandover Medal. At the end of the 2009 season Gilmore was delisted from Fremantle and retired from all football to concentrate on becoming a chiropractor after winning his second WAFL premiership with South Fremantle.
