Daniel Kyumbe Munguti (born 28 February 1995) is a Kenyan middle distance runner. [1]

Career

He won a gold medal with Kenyan relay team at the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Bathurst. [2] [3]

In June 2023, he won the Kenyan Athletics national title over 1500 metres in Nairobi in 3:37.38. [4] [5] He competed in the mile race at the 2023 World Athletics Road Running Championships in Riga in 2023, placing thirteenth. [6]

He won a gold medal with Kenyan relay team at the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Belgrade. [7] He ran a personal best 3:33.71 for the 1500 metres at the 2024 Kip Keino Classic. [8]

He finished runner-up to Reynold Cheruiyot at the Kenyan 1500m Olympic trials in June 2024. [9]

The men's 1500 metres event at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City was held on 18 to the 20 of October. Fifty-four athletes from 37 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Kenyan Kip Keino, who beat World record holder Jim Ryun, who struggled to adapt to the altitude of Mexico City. It was the first medal for Kenya in the 1500 metres. Ryun's silver was the United States's first medal in the event since 1952. Bodo Tümmler took bronze, the first medal for West Germany as a separate nation.

Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon is a Kenyan middle- and long-distance runner. Kipyegon is the current world record holder for the 1,500 metres and mile, both set in 2023, and the former world record holder for the 5,000 metres. Kipyegon won a gold medal each at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 1,500 m. She also won a gold medal in the 1,500 m at the 2017, 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships and in the 5,000 m at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
