Danilo Ezequiel Rinaldi (born 18 April 1986) is a footballer who plays as a striker for Campionato Sammarinese club Cosmos. Born in Argentina, he plays for the San Marino national team.

Club career

Born in Conesa, San Nicolás Partido in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, he started his career at a local clubs of lower leagues: Chacarita Juniors, Conesa FC, Deportivo Armenio, General Rojo UD and CSD La Emilia. [1] [2] In July 2008, at the invitation of his cousin Cristian Menín, Rinaldi moved to San Marino and joined Campionato Sammarinese side S.S. Virtus. [2] In 2010 he returned to Argentina when he played for Conesa FC. [2] He remained there until summer 2012 when he joined S.P. La Fiorita. In January 2014 he went on trial with four China League One clubs but was not offered a contract. [3]

International career

Due to having Sanmarinese roots through his grandfather, Rinaldi became the subject of interest from the San Marino national team and applied for citizenship of the country. [4] Shortly after confirming him as Sanmarinese citizen he received his first call-up from Giampaolo Mazza. [4] Rinaldi made his debut for San Marino after coming on as a substitute for Matteo Vitaioli in the 88th minute, in a 0–3 defeat against Czech Republic on 19 November 2008. He has scored first international goal, a penalty in a friendly against Malta in a 2–3 home defeat.

Personal life

Rinaldi is married to Magalí Vivas and has a son. [2] [3] He is a brother of Federico Rinaldi [5] and cousin of Cristian and Yésica Menín. [2]

The 2016–17 Campionato Sammarinese di Calcio season was the 32nd since its establishment. It is the only level in San Marino, in which all the country's 15 amateur football clubs play. The season began on 9 September 2016 and ended with the play-off final on 20 May 2017. Tre Penne were the defending champions. The fixtures and group compositions were announced on 27 August 2016.

The 2017–18 Campionato Sammarinese di Calcio was the 33rd season since its establishment. It is the highest level in San Marino, in which the country's top 15 amateur football clubs played. The season begin on 8 September 2017 and concluded with the play-off final on 23 May 2018. La Fiorita were the defending champions from the previous season. The 2017–18 Coppa Titano was the 60th version of the football competition. This competition began on 26 September 2017. The winners of the Coppa Titano, La Fiorita, earned a place in the 2018–19 Europa League and would begin play in the preliminary round.
