Theodore John Nolan is an Indigenous Canadian former professional hockey left winger, former head coach of the Buffalo Sabres and Latvia men's national ice hockey team. From July 2017 until May 2018 he was head coach of the Poland men's national ice hockey team. He played three seasons in the National Hockey League for the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also coached the New York Islanders, after serving as assistant coach for one season with the Hartford Whalers. On November 13, 2013, the Buffalo Sabres re-hired Nolan as interim head coach; he remained in the position until April 12, 2015.
Gerard Gallant is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former player. He was most recently the head coach of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously served as the head coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets (2004–2006), Florida Panthers (2014–2016) and Vegas Golden Knights (2017–2020). He is a three-time finalist for the Jack Adams Award for NHL coach of the year, winning the award in 2018 for the Golden Knights' first season. He was also a two-time Canadian Hockey League (CHL) coach of the year during his tenure with the Saint John Sea Dogs, where the team secured two President's Cup victories and one Memorial Cup.

The Moncton Wildcats are a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. The franchise was granted for the 1995–96 season, known as the Moncton Alpines for one season, and as the Wildcats since. The team played at the Moncton Coliseum from 1995 until 2018, and moved into the Avenir Centre for the 2018–19 season. After winning the 2005–06 QMJHL championship, the team hosted the 2006 Memorial Cup. The Wildcats also won the 2009–10 QMJHL championship, which sent the team to compete in the 2010 Memorial Cup in Brandon, Manitoba. They were eliminated from contention after going winless in the round robin portion of the tournament.
The Halifax Mooseheads are a Canadian major junior ice hockey club in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The team was founded in 1994 and began play in the Dilio Division of the QMJHL from the 1994–95 season. They have appeared in the President's Cup Finals five times, winning in 2013. The other four appearances were in 2003, 2005, 2019 and 2023. They hosted the Memorial Cup tournament in 2000 and 2019 and won the Memorial Cup in 2013. The team plays their home games in the Scotiabank Centre.
The Lewiston Maineiacs were a junior ice hockey team of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League based in Lewiston, Maine, United States. The team played its home games at the Androscoggin Bank –. They were the second QMJHL team in the United States, and the only one to play a full season. They won the President's Cup in 2007, becoming the only American based franchise to accomplish the feat.
Darren William Rumble is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former professional ice hockey player, presently the Interim Coach of the Ontario Hockey League Owen Sound Attack. Rumble played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Ottawa Senators, St. Louis Blues and Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League, but played most of his career with various minor league teams. In 2003–04 season Rumble spent majority of the season in the NHL, played only 5 games for Tampa Bay. Rumble spent most of the season as a healthy reserve. Tampa Bay Lightning still had his name inscribed on the Stanley Cup even though he did not officially qualify. The following year he played a handful of games for the Lightnings' AHL Affiliate Springfield Falcons before retiring and becoming assistant coach of the team. Rumble later became head coach of the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL), holding the position until January 2010. In 2013, he was assistant coach for the Icelandic National hockey team in the IIHF Hockey World Championship Div.II in Croatia.

The Canadian Hockey League institutes the shootout loss statistic to be recorded in the regular season standings. The league inaugurates the Maurice Filion Trophy for the "General Manager of the Year."
Daniel Lacroix is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and coach. He played in the National Hockey League with five teams between 1993 and 2000. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1989 to 2002, was spent in various minor leagues. After retiring as a player he became a coach, working for many teams.
The 1999–2000 QMJHL season was the 31st season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The league grants the Montreal Rocket an expansion franchise, returning a team to the most populous city in Quebec. The QMJHL splits into four divisions, retaining the names Lebel and Dilio for its conferences. The Lebel conference is split into the West and Central divisions, and the Dilio Conference is split into the East and Maritime divisions.
Pascal Vincent is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is the current head coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Vincent was previously the head coach of the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL) from 2016 to 2021 and an assistant coach for the Winnipeg Jets from 2011 to 2016. Vincent was the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's (QMJHL) Coach of the Year for the 2007–08 season, General Manager of the Year for the 2006–07 season, and the AHL's most outstanding coach award in 2017–18. In 2023, Vincent was named head coach of the Blue Jackets, after Mike Babcock resigned prior to the 2023–24 season.

The 2008 ADT Canada Russia Challenge series, featuring Team QMJHL versus the Russian Selects, took place on November 17 and 19, 2008. Eighteen teams played 68 games each. The Drummondville Voltigeurs, who finished first overall in the regular season, went on to capture their first President's Cup vs. the Shawinigan Cataractes in a series they won 4–3.

Guy Boucher is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach. Boucher is currently assistant coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Boucher is the former head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was also the head coach of SC Bern in the 2014–15 season. He previously coached in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He has coached various Canadian international teams, and worked as a commentator for RDS.
David Savard is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the fourth round, 94th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Savard won the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2021.
Gilles Bouchard is a Canadian ice hockey coach with the Sherbrooke Phoenix in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) He previously coached the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the QMJHL for five seasons. He also served as an assistant coach with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL) for five seasons. In the 2015–16 QMJHL season, he led the Huskies to the Jean Rougeau Trophy as regular season champions, the President's Cup as playoffs champions, and reached the final in the 2016 Memorial Cup. After that season, Bouchard was awarded the Ron Lapointe Trophy as the QMJHL Coach of the Year, the Maurice Filion Trophy as the QMJHL Executive of the Year, and the Brian Kilrea Coach of the Year Award for the Canadian Hockey League.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, the regular season was suspended on March 12, 2020 and cancelled five days later.
