On 3 June 1957, he moved from the Victoria Club to join East End Swimming Club in Belfast. [4]
He represented the 1958 Northern Irish Team [5] at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff, Wales, [6] participating in the 110 yards freestyle and medley relay events. [7] [8]
He made the decision to retire from swimming after the August 1959 Irish Championships [9] but ended up returning to his former club Victoria instead. [10]
