Dansk Landbrugs Realkreditfond or Danish Agricultural Mortgage Bank was founded in 1960 to provide mortgage loans for agricultural properties (agriculture, horticulture, etc.). Lending was based on the issuance of bonds, and the bonds were recorded daily on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. [1]

On 27 June 2016 was confirmed DLR’s status as SIFI (Systemically Important Financial Institution), received on 24 June 2014, because one of the SIFI indicators - the institute's balance sheet in percentage of GDP - was exceeded. [2]

Activities comprise trade in seed grain, grain and other crops, animal nutrition, vitamins and minerals for animal feed and fuel for agriculture. DLG’s principal markets are Denmark, Germany and Sweden, but export across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America also constitutes a large part of the business. The exports comprise malting barley, feed grain and bread grain, rapeseed and rapeseed oil.

Founded in Aarhus in 1896 by 12 merchants it grew through the early 20th century to become one of the largest Danish businesses trading in feed-stuffs and grain with branches in many Danish cities. It became one of the largest employers in Aarhus until the 2000s when the grain business was bought by a number of competitors, led by Dansk Landbrugs Grovvareselskab, and renamed Treka.
