Dante Alinsunurin is a Filipino volleyball coach.
Alinsunurin has coached in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), mentoring the National University (NU) Bulldogs men's volleyball team which won back-to-back titles over FEU in 2019 and Ateneo in 2018. [1] [2] The Bulldogs, under his watch, also took part at the 2018 ASEAN University Games in Myanmar and clinched a gold medal for the Philippines. [3] [4]
Alinsunurin has participated at the Spikers' Turf as coach. He guided the Megabuilders Volley Bolts in 2017. [5] He also coached Go for Gold Air Force team which finished as runners-up at the 2021 PNVF Champions League. [6]
He would join the women's club Choco Mucho Flying Titans of the Premier Volleyball League with his first tournament set to be the 2023 All-Filipino Conference. [7]
Alinsunurin has coached the Philippine men's national team. A former national player himself, Alinsunurin was appointed as head coach in February 2019, under the then national federation Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas (LVP). [8] He helped the team win a silver medal at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. He was retained as a coach when the LVP was succeeded by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation in 2021. [9]
He has also coached the national team at the 2021 Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship which took part as a club side under the name Rebisco PH. [10] In 2022, Alinsunurin would lead the team again for the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam. However the team failed to maintain their success from the 2019 edition, finishing fifth. [11]
In January 2023, Alinsunurin left the national team after he was named coach of Choco Mucho Flying Titans. [11]
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight-member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University (ATENEO), De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and the University of Santo Tomas (UST). Varsity teams from these universities compete annually in the league's 31 events from 17 disciplines to vie for the overall championship title, namely, 3x3 basketball, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, fencing, football, judo, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo poomsae, taekwondo kyorugi (sparring), tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
The National University Bulldogs are the collegiate men's varsity teams of National University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The collegiate women's varsity teams are called the Lady Bulldogs while the high school varsity teams are called the Bullpups. The National University Athletic Director is Rustico “Otie” Camangian.
The school rivalry between Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University began when both educational institutions participated in the National Collegiate Athletic Association of the Philippines (NCAA) and has carried over to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) where both universities compete in currently. Before UAAP Season 84, the Ateneo men's varsity team was known as the Ateneo Blue Eagles, the women's varsity team as the Ateneo Lady Eagles, and the high school team as the Ateneo Blue Eaglets. In May 2022, Ateneo de Manila University decided to unify student-athletes and varsity teams under the "Blue Eagles" moniker, regardless of sport, gender, or age group.
The UST Growling Tigers basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The school has won 19 basketball titles including one in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They are one of the winningest teams in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) with 18 championships, the last coming in 2006 during Pido Jarencio's rookie year of coaching. Their head coach as of July 22, 2022 is Bal David.
Alyssa Caymo Valdez is a Filipino volleyball player who currently plays for the Creamline Cool Smashers. She was a member of the collegiate varsity women's volleyball team of Ateneo de Manila University in both indoor and beach volleyball. She was most outstanding as an indoor volleyball player where she brought multiple championship titles and a lot of honor for the university. She is a current member of Philippines national team. Her global recognition paved the way for her to play in other countries like Thailand for 3BB Nakornnont and Taiwan for Attack Line Volleyball Club.
Dennise Michelle "Denden" Garcia Lazaro-Revilla is a Filipina professional volleyball player. Lazaro is a member of the Philippines women's national volleyball team. She is known as the libero and Ateneo Lady Eagles' Iron Eagle.
Ma. Deanna Izabella Alvizo Wong is a Filipino professional volleyball athlete. Wong was a member of the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Blue Eagles, the school's women's varsity volleyball team from 2016 to 2020. During Season 80 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 2018, she won the Best Setter Award.
The Choco Mucho Flying Titans is a professional women's volleyball team playing in the Premier Volleyball League. The team is owned by the Republic Biscuit Corporation.
Isabel Beatriz "Bea" Paras de Leon is a Filipino professional volleyball player who currently plays for the club team Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the PVL. She played for the Ateneo Lady Eagles in the UAAP for five straight years and on her final year, led her team to its third championship and was named the UAAP Season 81 Finals MVP.
