Daphna Awadish Golan is a Dutch-Israeli animator, [1] filmmaker [2] and illustrator [3] [4] based in Amsterdam, [5] Netherlands. She specializes in animated documentaries, in which she employs mixed media techniques to convey personal narratives, [6] often reflecting her diverse experiences living in different countries, which informs her exploration of the concept of "home". Her 2023 film, Swimming With Wings won the Grand Prix du Jury at the Meknes International Animation Film Festival in Morocco, the ECFA Documentary Film Award at the Olympia International Film Festival. [9]
Daphna's previous short films, Journey Birds [10] and Bear With Me [11] have gained recognition [12] [13] at global festivals, [14] winning accolades such as the Best Animation Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival [15] [16] and the Fantastic Award at the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film.
Golan graduated from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design with a Bachelor's degree [17] of Arts and later obtained a master's degree from the St. Joost Master Institute of Visual Cultures. [18] She has contributed to the field of animation both through her films and as a lecturer in the animation department at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Mister Smile is a 1999 American animated short film directed by Fran Krause while he was attending Rhode Island School of Design. It won several awards in independent film festivals. The story follows a variety of characters who are all invited to a party at the home of Mister Smile.

Hisham Zreiq, also spelled Zrake, is a Palestinian-Israeli Independent filmmaker, poet, animator and visual artist. He began working in computer art in 1994, and in 1996 started exhibiting his work in galleries and museums. In 2007 he filmed his first documentary, The Sons of Eilaboun, and in 2008 he created the short film Just Another Day, dealing with the life of Arabs living in western world after the September 11 terror attacks. He uses his poetry and visual art in his films, as in Just Another Day, and was a member of the Culture Unplugged film festival panel. In 2018 Zreiq contributed to the book An Oral History of the Palestinian Nakba by writing a chapter based on the interviews from his documentary The Sons of Eilaboun. Kapaemahu is a 2020 animated short film produced and directed by Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu, Dean Hamer and Joe Wilson with director of the animation Daniel Sousa. It is based on the long-hidden history of four healing stones on Waikiki Beach placed there as a tribute to four legendary mahu who first brought the healing arts to Hawaii. The film is narrated in Olelo Niihau, the only unbroken form of the Hawaiian language.
