Darbandsar is one of the largest Iranian ski resorts, and is located in Tehran Province. [2] It is located on the Alborz mountain range about 47 kilometres away from the Iranian capital of Tehran.
Darbandsar is the only resort in Iran that is capable of Snowmaking. [3]

Marjan Kalhor is an Iranian alpine skier who became the first Iranian woman to participate in the Winter Olympics, at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Kalhor competed in the slalom and giant slalom competitions. She was her nation's flag bearer in the Opening Ceremony. Kalhor finished 60th among 86 competitors in the giant slalom and 55th among 87 participants in the slalom.

Shemshak is a ski resort situated to the north-east of Tehran in the Alborz mountain range. Shemshak is the second-largest ski area in Iran after Dizin and Darbansar. It came into operation in 1958. It includes two chairlifts and three surface lifts. The slopes lie at an altitude of 2,550 m to 3,050 m above sea level. The resort includes two main slopes, each with a chair lift at the apex and several lifts. There are no lighting facilities for night skiing.
