Daryl Melham AM (born 26 November 1954) is an Australian former politician. He was a Labor member of the Australian House of Representatives representing the Division of Banks in New South Wales from 1990 to 2013.
Melham was born in Sydney,to a family of Lebanese descent and studied law and economics at the University of Sydney,earning an LL.B. and a B.Ec. [1] [2]
Melham was a barrister and solicitor and a public defender before entering politics. He was vice-president of the New South Wales Labor Party from 1999 until 2002. [2]
Melham worked as a solicitor with the Legal Aid Commission of New South Wales,specialising in criminal law from 1979 to 1987. He was subsequently admitted to the bar as a barrister,and was a public defender until his entry into federal politics in 1990. He is also a foundation member of the NSW Society of Labor Lawyers. [2]
Melham is a Life Member and has served as President of the Revesby Workers' Club. [2]
Elected to Parliament in 1990,Melham entered the Opposition Shadow Ministry following Labor's electoral defeat in 1996. He served as Shadow Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs but resigned in 2000 after a policy disagreement with the then Labor leader Kim Beazley. He returned to the Opposition Shadow Ministry in 2001 and he was Shadow Minister for Housing,Urban Development and Local Government from December 2003,resigning from the front bench soon after the Labor Party's election defeat in October 2004. Melham and colleague Lindsay Tanner were the only Labor MPs to openly speak out against the Howard government's proposed anti-terrorism legislation which provides for harsher punishments for sedition and grants police new shoot-to-kill powers. [3] Melham also spoke out against the Howard government's changes to the rules concerning political donations,which allowed donations of up to A$10,000 to be given to political parties without public disclosure. [4] Melham was quoted as saying in May 2006:"We're going to have the best politicians money can buy,but we won't see [how much]". [4]
Melham resigned as the Federal Labor caucus chair on 30 October 2012. [5] Following the 2010 election,Melham's usually high margin in Banks was reduced to a low 1.5%. He lost the seat at the 2013 federal election against the Liberal candidate,David Coleman. [6]

Morris Iemma is a former Australian politician who was the 40th Premier of New South Wales. He served from 3 August 2005 to 5 September 2008. From Sydney,Iemma attended the University of Sydney and the University of Technology,Sydney. A member of the Labor Party,he was first elected to the Parliament of New South Wales at the 1991 state election,having previously worked as a trade union official. From 1999,Iemma was a minister in the third and fourth ministries led by Bob Carr. He replaced Carr as premier and Leader of the New South Wales Labor Party in 2005,following Carr's resignation. Iemma led Labor to victory at the 2007 state election,albeit with a slightly reduced majority. He resigned as premier in 2008,after losing the support of caucus,and left parliament shortly after,triggering a by-election. He was replaced as premier by Nathan Rees.

He represented the Liberal Party for most of his career,serving as its deputy state leader from 2002 to 2003,and in the O'Farrell Ministry as minister for resources and energy,special minister of state and minister for the Central Coast. Jodi Leyanne McKay is an Australian former politician who was the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of New South Wales from June 2019 until May 2021. She previously served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly,representing Strathfield for the Labor Party from 2015 to 2021. McKay also previously represented Newcastle for one term from 2007 until her defeat at the 2011 election. Between 2008 and 2011,McKay held a number of junior ministerial responsibilities in the Rees and Keneally governments,including serving as the Minister for the Hunter,Tourism,Small Business,Science and Medical Research,Commerce,and Women,and Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer). On 17 October 2021,McKay announced she would resign from the parliament,which triggered a by-election in her seat of Strathfield. McKay subsequently became National Chair of the Australia India Business Council.
Michael Joseph Gallacher is an Australian former politician. He was the Minister for Police and Emergency Services and Vice-president of the Executive Council in the O'Farrell government and Baird government from 2011 to 2014;the Minister for the Central Coast from December 2013 to May 2014;and the Minister for Industrial Relations in the Baird government from April to May 2014.
