Dauphin Fabuleux is a Canadian Champion Thoroughbred racehorse. [1] Bred by Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame member, Don McClelland, he was purchased for $77,000 at the 1983 CTHS yearling auction by Sam-Son Farm. [2]

Dauphin Fabuleux was out of the mare Jansum Regal, a daughter of 1968 Canadian Horse of the Year, Viceregal. [3] His French sire, Le Fabuleux, was a winner of several major races including the French Derby and was the Leading broodmare sire in France in 1980. [4] [5]

Conditioned for racing by trainer Jim Day, Dauphin Fabuleux was ridden by Jeffrey Fell. Racing at age two in 1984, he won four of the most important races for two-year-olds in Canada, two on turf, and two on dirt. He was sent to Hollywood Park Racetrack in California to compete in the November 10th inaugural running of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile in which he finished sixth to winner Chief's Crown. At year end, Dauphin Fabuleux earned Canadian Horse of the Year honors, the first of a record nine for Sam-Son Farm. [6]

At age three, Dauphin Fabuleux met with limited racing success before being retired to stud where he met with modest success, notably siring French King, a Canadian multiple stakes winner including the Coronation Futurity Stakes.

Sea-Bird (1962–1973) was a French Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a career which lasted from 1964 until October 1965 he ran eight times and won seven races. Sea Bird is most famous for his victories in two of Europe's most prestigious races: the Derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. His Timeform rating of 145 remains the second highest flat figure behind Frankel's rating of 147 awarded by that publication.

Sam-Son Farm is a Thoroughbred horse racing stable with farms located in Milton, Ontario, Canada and Ocala, Florida. Originating in the 60's by Ernie Samuel, it began as a home for competition hunter/jumper horses. One Sam-Son horse, Canadian Club won the 1967 Pan-American Games Individual Jumping Gold medal and was a member of the 1968 Team Gold Medal for Canada at the Mexico Olympics ridden by Jim Day. Sam-Son continued to send entries to International show jumping, dressage and three ay venting events including the 1972 and 1976 Olympics and thereafter. In 1971 it became home to its first Thoroughbred race horse and officially entered racing in 1972.

Norcliffe Canadian-bred Thoroughbred racehorse

Norcliffe (1973–1984) was a Canadian Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse. He was sired by U.S. Hall of Fame Champion Buckpasser out of the mare Drama School by Northern Dancer.

Deputy Minister was a Canadian-bred Thoroughbred horse racing Champion. At age two, he won eight out of his nine starts and was voted both the Sovereign and Eclipse Awards for Champion 2-Year-Old in Canada and the United States respectively. He also received Canada's Sovereign Award for Horse of the Year. Although his three-year-old campaign was restricted by injury, Deputy Minister rebounded at age four with several major wins.
