Dave Sheridan is an American actor, producer and writer. [1] He played Special Officer Doofy in the comedy Scary Movie (2000), a spoof of deputy sheriff Dewey Riley from Scream . [2]

Career

He began his career as an intern at Saturday Night Live during the 1991–1992 season. From there, he entered Chicago's famed comedy troupe, The Second City, where he wrote, directed, and produced "Dave Sheridan's America", a multimedia stage show. He starred on Buzzkill , a 1996 MTV reality series that featured three slacker buddies staging elaborate pranks and catching it all on video. [3]

Sheridan is well known for his role in Scary Movie (2000) as Officer Doofy. [4] He portrayed the character Doug in the 2001 film Ghost World . [3] Sheridan also appeared in the 2002 music videos for "By the Way" (playing a crazy taxi driver) [5] and "Universally Speaking" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. [6] Sheridan toured with his band that formed in 2004, Van Stone. [3]

Sheridan hosted a series called Smile...You're Under Arrest! on the Fox Reality Channel in 2008–09. In 2014, he portrayed Sheriff Lincoln in the parody film The Walking Deceased , inspired by The Walking Dead . [4]

In 2016, Sheridan started co-hosting The Dave and Creech Show podcast with actor/podcaster CJ Creech.

The worldwide success of the band's previous album Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991) caused guitarist John Frusciante to become uncomfortable with their popularity, eventually quitting mid-tour in 1992. Following a series of short-term replacements, the band hired guitarist Dave Navarro in 1993; it was his only studio album with the band. Recording for the album took place at the Sound Factory in Hollywood from June 1994 to February 1995. It marked the second collaboration between the band and producer Rick Rubin.

Live at Slane Castle is a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert video released on November 17, 2003, two years after the release of their last concert DVD, Off the Map. The concert, which took place on August 23, 2003, was their first headlining show at Slane Castle in Ireland having previously performed there in August 2001 opening for U2. The show was one of the biggest ever for the band with 80,000 fans in attendance with tickets selling out in under two and a half hours. Foo Fighters also played as one of several supporting acts, and have their own DVD footage of the concert. Other acts supporting on the day included Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey, Feeder and Morcheeba.
