David Burnell Smith was a Republican member of the Arizona House of Representatives,representing Arizona Legislative District 7. [2] He served in the House from January 2005 until January 2006,and again from January 2011 until January 2013. He ran unsuccessfully for re-election in November 2014. Smith died of natural causes at his home in Carefree,Arizona on October 24,2014. [1] [3]
Smith was born in Charleston,West Virginia on April 8,1941. After graduating from Charleston High School,Smith served in the United States Coast Guard from 1959–1967. [4] He received his B.A. from the University of Charleston (then known as Morris Harvey College) in 1967. [1] Smith and his wife,Rita,moved to Arizona in 1993. He ran unsuccessfully for the Arizona State Senate in 1998,2000,and 2002. [5]
In 2004 he ran for the Arizona House of Representatives,and was elected to represent District 7. [6] When irregularities were discovered in his campaign finances,the Arizona Citizens’Clean Election Commission recommended that he be removed from office. Smith unsuccessfully fought the removal,and stepped down on January 26,2006. [6] [7] [8]
In 2010 he again ran for the House,and was re-elected. [2] He served from January 2011 through January 2013,but lost his bid for re-election in 2012 when he was beaten in the Republican primary by 32 votes. [1]

She previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021 and the Arizona Senate representing District 15 from 2013 to 2019. Barto served consecutively in the Arizona State Legislature from January 2007 until January 10,2011 in the Arizona House of Representatives District 7 seat,then in the Arizona Senate in the District 7 seat from January 10,2011 until January 14,2013.

Robert Blendu was a member of the Arizona State Senate from 2003 through 2009. He was first elected to the Senate in November 2002,and was re-elected twice,in 2004 and 2006. In 2008 Blendu decided to not seek re-election to the Senate and ran for a seat in the Arizona House of Representatives in the same district. However,he lost to Steve Montenegro and Jerry Weiers in the Republican primary.
Pete Rios was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona Senate,serving two stretches in the Senate and a single term in the House. He first ran,unsuccessfully,for the House in 1980. In 1982 he ran for the State Senate,winning the seat from Arizona's 7th District. He won re-election in 1984,1986,1988,1990,and 1992. He served as the Senate President during the 40th Legislature from 1991–1992. In 1994,he did not run for re-election to the Senate,instead choosing to run for the Arizona Secretary of State,a bid for which he was unsuccessful. In 1996 Rios once again ran for the Senate,regaining his seat in District 7. He won election three times,the first two in 1998 and 2000 to District,and then to District 23 in 2002,after re-districting. In 2004,due to Arizona's term limit laws,Rios was unable to run again for the Senate,and chose to run for the House seat from District 23,which he won. He won re-election in 2006. He did not run for re-election in 2008.
Marian McClure is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives,initially representing the 9th District before redistricting in 2002 moved her to the 30th District. She was first elected to the House in November 2000. She won re-election in 2002,2004,and 2006. Due to Arizona term limits,she was ineligible to run for re-election in 2008. Instead,she ran for the Arizona State Senate,where she lost in the Republican primary to incumbent Frank Antenori,who went on to re-election in the general election.
Phil Hanson is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives from January 2001 until January 2005. He was first elected to the House in November 2000,representing District 17,and was re-elected in 2002 after re-districting,to the 9th District. He ran for re-election in 2004,along with his fellow incumbent,Bob Stump,but lost in the Republican primary to Rick Murphy.
John Loredo is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives from January 1997 until January 2005. In 1994 he worked on the unsuccessful campaign for governor of Eddie Basha Jr. He was first elected to the House in November 1996,representing District 22,and was re-elected to that same district in 1998 and 2000. After redistricting in 2002,he ran unopposed for re-election in District 13,along with fellow Democrat Steve Gallardo.

He served in the House from January 1993 until January 1999,and in the Senate from January 1999 through January 2003. He was first elected to the House in November 1992,representing District 26,and was re-elected in 1994 and 1996. In 1998 he ran for the State Senate from the same district,and won. He was re-elected in 2000. He did not run for re-election in 2002.
