David Edward Coote (born 8 April 1955) is a former English cricketer. Coote was a left-handed batsman. He was born at Winkburn,Nottinghamshire.
Coote made a single first-class appearance for Nottinghamshire against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge in the 1977 County Championship. [1] In a match which Yorkshire won by 5 wickets,he batted once,scoring 20 runs in Nottinghamshire's first-innings,before being dismissed by Phil Carrick. [2] In that same season he also made a single List A appearance against Gloucestershire in the John Player League at Trent Bridge. [3] He scored 13 runs in Nottinghamshire's innings,before being dismissed by Mike Procter,with Gloucestershire winning the match by 13 runs. [4] He continued to appear for the Nottinghamshire Second XI after 1977,playing Second XI cricket until 1982. Coote played club cricket in the Nottinghamshire Premier League for Collingham until 2005. [5]
Coote is the father of football referee David Coote.
The 2005 English cricket season was the 106th in which the County Championship had been an official competition. Before it began,a resurgent England cricket team had won four Test series in a row,going unbeaten through the 2004 calendar year. The start of the international season saw England defeat Bangladesh 2–0 in their two-match series,winning both Tests by an innings. This was followed by a tri-nations one-day tournament that also featured Australia. Australia still started the Test series as favourites but most fans expected England to put up a challenge.

Frank Henry Vigar was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Essex County Cricket Club between 1938 and 1954. A right-handed batsman,and leg break bowler,Vigar served as an all-rounder with 8,858 runs at 26.28 and 241 wickets at 37.90. From his rained-off debut in 1938,Vigar went on to play 257 matches for his county. His greatest success came in the "golden summer" of 1947,where he scored 1,735 runs and took 64 wickets. A partnership with Peter Smith of 218 for the final wicket remains an Essex record.
W. G. Grace is believed to have considered retirement from cricket before the 1878 season after he was seriously injured in a shooting accident the previous autumn which nearly cost him the sight of an eye. Having recovered,he reconsidered and in 1878 played in 33 matches,24 of which are generally recognised as first-class. His main roles in the season were captain of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and both match organiser and captain of the United South of England Eleven (USEE). In addition,he represented Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC),the Gentlemen in the Gentlemen v Players fixture and the South in the North v South series. 1878 was a cold,wet summer and not one of Grace's better seasons as a batsman,but he was very effective in such conditions as a right arm medium pace roundarm bowler and completed a sixth successive "double" by scoring 1,151 runs and taking 152 wickets in the recognised first-class matches.
