David H. Nutt

David H. Nutt is an American lawyer and philanthropist. He is the former richest person in the US state of Mississippi. Nutt graduated from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi. [1] A lawyer, [1] Nutt has defended former trial lawyer Richard Scruggs. [1] [2] He has also "represented clients in asbestos, drug, healthcare fraud and environmental litigation." [1]

In 1999, he agreed to donate $14.5 million to the University of Mississippi, [1] which named its David H. Nutt Auditorium in his honor. [1] [3]

Nutt lives in Ridgeland, Mississippi. [1] He owns the Canadian River Cattle Ranch, a 71,000-acre ranch in Oldham County, Texas. [2] As of 2014, he was worth an estimated US$880 million. [1] [4]

Chucalissa is a Walls phase mound and plaza complex located on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. Other contemporaneous groups in the area include the Parkin phase, Tipton phase, Menard phase, and the Nodena phase. The Walls phase is the last prehistoric people to inhabit the Memphis area before the arrival of Europeans. During the early 1540s the Hernando de Soto Expedition passed through the area, stopping at many villages along the way. It is thought that the Walls phase may be the Province of Quizquiz, a Tunican people encountered by de Soto on the banks of the Mississippi River.
