Torben Schmidt Grael is one of the most well known Brazilian sailors, renowned in international competitions. A descendant of Danes, he was taken sailing by his grandfather at the age of five years on the sailboat Aileen, of the 6 Metre class, which was the boat used by the silver medal-winning 1912 Summer Olympics Danish sailing team. Once he moved to Niterói, he started sailing with his brother, Lars Grael, also an Olympic medal winner, on the Bay of Guanabara. Another brother, Axel Grael, is the current mayor of Niterói. He is father of Olympic champion Martine Grael and sailor Marco Grael.
Andrew James "Bart" Simpson, was an English sailor who won a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, as crew for skipper Iain Percy in the Star class representing Great Britain. Simpson died in the capsize of the catamaran he was crewing on 9 May 2013, while training for the America's Cup in San Francisco Bay.
Rodney Stuart Pattisson, MBE is a British yachtsman. He is a double Olympic gold medalist in sailing won at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and 1972 Munich Olympics both in the Flying Dutchman class. He also won a silver medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the same class to become Great Britain’s most successful Olympic yachtsman until Ben Ainslie overtook him with 3 gold medals and a silver medal at four different Olympic Games at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Pattisson was a member of Itchenor Sailing Club.
David John Were Bond was a British Olympic gold medallist in sailing. He competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London and won a gold medal in the Swallow class with Stewart Morris. He was involved in the promotion of elements related to the 2012 Summer Olympics and was the last surviving British gold medallist from the 1948 Games.
Steven Richard Erickson is an American sailor and Olympic champion in the Star class. He competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and won a gold medal in the Star together with William Earl Buchan.

The Men's Finn was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 2012 Summer Olympics program in Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Eleven races were scheduled and completed. 24 sailors, on 24 boats, from 24 nations competed. Ten boats qualified for the medal race on course area Nothe in front of Weymouth, where each position scored double points.
Jonas Høgh-Christensen is a Danish sailor, winner of the Finn Gold Cup in 2009. He has represented Denmark in the Finn class at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics at which he won the silver medal, narrowly missing out on the gold to British sailor Sir Ben Ainslie, who that day became the first person to win medals in five different Olympic Games in sailing, surpassing Danish Sailor Paul Elvstrøm who won four gold medals.
Giles Lyndon Scott is a British competitive sailor and four-time Finn Gold Cup winner and two-time Olympic gold medallist who won the gold medal for Team GB in the Finn Class at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro where having dominated the class, Scott secured his place in the history books winning the gold medal with a day to spare. He is also a member of the 2021 INEOS TEAM UK America's Cup team campaign with Ben Ainslie Racing where he is tactician.
Balázs Hajdú is a retired Hungarian sailor who specialized in the Finn class. He has been selected to compete for Hungary in two editions of the Olympic Games, and has been a resident athlete for 15 years at the Hungarian Training Center (Hungarian: Magyar Testgyakorlók Köre in Budapest, under the tutelage of his longtime coach György Wossala.

Jacob Saunders is a Canadian sailor. Along with his partner Graeme Saunders, he competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 470 event, finishing in 22nd place. He represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics together with Oliver Bone of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, finishing in 17th place in the men's 470 event. He started his early training and career with the Chester Yacht Club, competing as Jacob Chaplin-Saunders.

Ali Kemal Tüfekçi is a Turkish former sailor, who specialized in the Laser and Finn classes. He represented his country Turkey in the single-handed boat at the 2000 Summer Olympics, before switching to a heavyweight version on his second trip to Beijing 2008. Tüfekçi trained throughout his sporting career for Istanbul Sailing Club.
Eduardo Couto is a Brazilian former sailor, who specialized in the Laser Radial and Finn classes. He won a gold medal in the Laser Radial boat at the class-associated 2005 Worlds in Fortaleza, before switching to a heavyweight division on his only Olympic trip to Beijing 2008. Couto is a member of the Rio de Janeiro Yacht Club.
Jhonny Senen Bilbao Bande is a Venezuelan former sailor, who specialized in the Finn class. He represented his nation Venezuela at the 2008 Summer Olympics, finishing last out of 26 registered sailors. A member of Centro de Vela Ligera in his native Anzoategui province, Bilbao trained for the country's sailing federation under the tutelage of his personal coach and father José.
