David Koller (born 27 September 1960) is a Czech musician and record producer.
Koller started his career in the early 1980s as the drummer of Jasná Páka and has also played in various other bands, including Žentour, Pusa, and Blue Effect. He founded the popular Czech group Lucie in 1985 and remained there until 2005, when he departed, due to disagreements with fellow members P.B.CH. and Robert Kodym. [1] The group reunited in 2012. [2] In 2008, he was temporarily a touring member of Chinaski, and he leads his own group, Kollerband. Koller has produced music for Miro Žbirka, Koistinen, Alice, Plexis, Walk Choc Ice, Oskar Petr, Lucie Bílá, and many others. In 2016, he produced the album Srdeční příběh for Michal Ambrož, longtime leader of the bands Jasná Páka and Hudba Praha. [3] In 2019, he supervised the production of the album Hudba Praha & Michal Ambrož. [4]
Together with Lucie member Michal Dvořák, Koller composed the score for the films Amerika (1994), Poslední přesun (1995), and Mrtvej brouk (1998). With artist David Černý and filmmaker Alice Nellis, he opened the multicultural center MeetFactory in 2007. [5] Koller has made appearances in several films and television productions, including Pražákům, těm je tu hej (1991), Accumulator 1 (1994), and Kancelář Blaník (2014).
In early 2014, Koller signed an appeal to the Sobotka government, which called for a tougher line towards Russia and the punishment of all minorities in the Czech Republic who have Russian citizenship, namely "immediate suspension of visas for Russian citizens, abolishing the possibility of dual citizenship for Russian citizens, freezing of accounts of Russian citizens in the Czech Republic in order to verify the legality of these deposits, stopping the entry of Russian business and capital into the Czech Republic". [6]
According to Koller, "The government should make sure we choose Europe and NATO and not Russians. We express this through song, but everyone should realize that we play guitars that were made mostly in America. What has Russia given us?" [7]
Koller's son Adam is also a drummer and occasionally plays in bands with his father. [8]

Ivan Král was a Czech-born American composer, filmmaker, guitarist, record producer, bassist, and singer-songwriter. Luboš Pospíšil is a Czech singer-songwriter and guitarist, and the frontman of the pop-rock band 5P. In 1969, he was a founding member of C&K Vocal, and since he left the band, he has released twelve solo albums. Between 1988 and 1990, he was a member of Blue Effect.
Jasná Páka is a Czech rock band formed in 1981 by Michal Ambrož and Vladimír "Dáda" Albrecht. The group was banned in 1984, and most of its members subsequently founded the group Hudba Praha. In 2008, Jasná Páka reformed, with a new lineup. Hudba Praha continues to play as a separate group to this day. Jasná Páka has released one studio album, as well as several live and compilation albums. Ambrož died in 2022.
Lake Malawi is a Czech indie pop band from Třinec, formed in 2013. It currently consists of lead vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Albert Černý, and bassist and keyboardist Jeroným Šubrt. The band was formed by Černý following the breakup of his former group, Charlie Straight. Their debut EP, We Are Making Love Again, was released in 2015 and followed by the album Surrounded by Light in 2017. They represented the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song "Friend of a Friend", finishing in eleventh place. In 2022, they released their second album, The Great Video Game Crush. The band's lyrics are in English.
Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union occurred in the first half of 2009. On 1 January 2009, Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek became the President of the Council of the European Union. When Topolánek's cabinet lost a vote of no-confidence, he was replaced by Jan Fischer on 8 May 2009. Presidency went over to Sweden on 1 July 2009.
Lucie is a Czech rock band. After an initial period of stabilization of band members and musical style (1985-1987), they entered the music scene with their first single "Pár fíglů" in 1988. Over the next sixteen years, the band released seven studio albums, two concert albums, and one compilation album. On 2 October 2004, the group entered a "planned creative break" that ended in December 2012.
Žentour is a Czech pop rock group led by Janek Ledecký. The band has been active since the early 1980s and has gone through a number of lineup changes over the years, as well as several prolonged breaks. They have released four studio albums as well as three albums of English versions of their Czech material. As of March 2020, Žentour is on hiatus, and they haven't released any new music since 2014.
Jan Ledecký, better known as Janek Ledecký, is a Czech singer, songwriter, guitarist, and composer born in Prague. After graduating from Karla Sladkovského high school, he attended the law faculty of Charles University in Prague, earning a degree in law. Since 1981, he has played in the multiple award-winning rock band Žentour as lead vocalist and guitarist. In 1992, he launched a solo career, which he maintains to this day, having released over a dozen successful albums. He has also written and performed in several musicals, including Galileo, Hamlet, and Iago.
Wanastowi Vjecy is a Czech rock band formed in 1988 in Prague. The group consists of Robert Kodym on vocals and guitar, Štěpán Smetáček on drums, Tomáš Vartecký on guitar, and Radek Havlíček on bass. They began as a punk band but settled into a mainstream rock sound by the early 1990s. Kodym and former member P.B.CH. were also in the band Lucie, led by David Koller, which they had formed together in 1985. The duo formed the core of Wanastowi Vjecy until 2010, when P.B.CH. left.
Pusa was a Czech pop-rock band formed in the mid-1990s by Lucie members David Koller and Marek Minárik, together with Lenka Dusilová, and included a number of rotating session musicians.
Hudba Praha was a Czech rock band formed in 1984 by Michal Ambrož, after his previous band, Jasná Páka, was banned by the Communist government of Czechoslovakia. The group was active until 2015, with a hiatus between 1996 and 1999. In 2015, it splintered into two separate entities, known as Hudba Praha Band and Michal Ambrož a Hudba Praha. The band released five studio albums, one double EP, three live albums, and two compilations. Each splinter group has released one album. Michal Ambrož died in 2022.
Hotel Praha was a luxury hotel located in the Dejvice neighborhood of Prague, Czech Republic. Built in 1981, the hotel was used by Communist Party of Czechoslovakia officials and their guests until 1989, when it became open to the public. It was demolished in 2014 after being purchased by billionaire Petr Kellner.
