David Lively (born 27 June 1953) is a French classical pianist of US origin.
Born in Ironton, Ohio, Lively began his career at the age of 14 playing Khachatourian's Piano Concerto with the St. Louis Symphony.
In 1972 he won fourth place in the Queen Elisabeth Competition. He later participated, as a member of the jury of the same competition, in the 1999, 2003 and 2010 editions. [1]
He currently heads the Saint-Lizier festival [2] in the Ariège department.
He is the Director of the École normale de musique de Paris competitions.
Constantin "Dinu" Lipatti was a Romanian classical pianist and composer whose career was cut short by his death from effects related to Hodgkin's disease at age 33. He was elected posthumously to the Romanian Academy. He composed few works, all of which demonstrated a strong influence from Bartok.
Le Tombeau de Couperin is a suite for solo piano by Maurice Ravel, composed between 1914 and 1917. The piece is in six movements, based on those of a traditional Baroque suite. Each movement is dedicated to the memory of a friend of the composer who had died fighting in World War I. Ravel also produced an orchestral version of the work in 1919, although this omitted two of the original movements.
