David Meves (born July 20, 1990) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper, most recently for Puerto Rico FC of the North American Soccer League.

Career

College and Youth

Meves played four years of college soccer at the University of Akron between 2009 and 2012. [1]

While at college, Meves also appeared for USL PDL club Chicago Fire Premier from 2010 to 2012. [2] [ better source needed ]

Professional

On January 22, 2013 Meves was selected 3rd overall in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft by Portland Timbers. [3] Meves wasn't signed by Portland and spent time with Portland Timbers U23s in 2013. [4]

Meves played with USL PDL club Des Moines Menace in 2014, [5] before signing with North American Soccer League club Fort Lauderdale Strikers on July 10, 2014. [6] Meves earned the starting job for the Strikers in 2015 before being sidelined by a broken jaw.

Meves joined NASL expansion team Puerto Rico FC on March 10, 2016.

Meves was released by Puerto Rico at the end of their 2016 season. [7]

The 2010 Miami FC season was the fifth season of the club. Previously, they fielded a team in the USL First Division. Along with other clubs, Miami FC broke away from the previous league to form the new North American Soccer League. Nonetheless, the club fielded a team in the NASL Conference of the USSF Division 2 Professional League, the second tier of the American Soccer Pyramid at the time.. This year the team finished fourth in the NASL Conference Standings and ninth in the playoff standings, missing the post season. This was the last year of the team as the new NASL was launched the following year. The club connected with the original Fort Lauderdale Strikers club and launched a new team and franchise in the NASL under the Strikers' name starting in the 2011 season.

The 2009 Portland Timbers season was the ninth season for the club in the United Soccer Leagues First Division (USL-1), the second tier of the United States soccer pyramid. The first competitive game of the 2009 season was played on April 25 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC versus Vancouver Whitecaps FC which the Timbers lost 1–0. Following that loss the Timbers went on a 24-game unbeaten streak in the league on their way to securing the Commissioner's Cup for finishing the regular season atop the table. In a hard-fought, two-legged series, Vancouver Whitecaps FC knocked Portland out of the playoffs in the semifinals by an aggregate score of 5–4. In the U.S. Open Cup the Timbers hosted Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer in the third round but were eliminated by their bitter rivals 2–1 in front of 16,382 spectators at PGE Park in Portland, Oregon.
