David O'Brien (born 28 January 1983) is a retired British swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. [1] He is a single-time Olympian (2004), a resident athlete of Team GB, and a member of Stirling Swimming Club, under head coach Chris Martin.

O'Brien qualified for the men's 4×200 m freestyle relay, as a member of the British team, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. [2] He finished sixth in the 200 m freestyle from the Olympic trials in Sheffield, posting a relay entry time of 1:51.12. [3] Teaming with Simon Burnett, Gavin Meadows, and Ross Davenport in the final, O'Brien swam a third leg and recorded a split of 1:49.05. He and the rest of the Brits missed the podium by 0.77 seconds behind the Italians, led by Massimiliano Rosolino, finishing fourth in a new national record of 7:12.60. [4] [5] [6]

O'Brien is the son of former swimmer Lisa Geary, who competed for the host nation Canada, and placed tenth in the women's 800-metre freestyle at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.

Heiko Hell is a German former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a nine-time German swimming champion in the 400, 800, and 1500 m freestyle (2000–2004), and also a three-time Olympic finalist. Hell is a member of Hamburg City Swimming Club, and is coached and trained by Dirk Lange.

Adam Lucas is an Australian Olympic swimmer who specialized in individual medley (IM) events. Lucas represented Australia at the 2004 Summer Olympics Games in Athens, Greece, swimming in the 200m IM. Lucas was the Australian Record holder in the Men's short course 100 IM, and won a silver and bronze World Championship medal as a member of 4x200m Freestyle Relay squads at the 2004 World Short Course Championships in Indianapolis, USA, and the 2005 World Championships in Montreal, Canada.

Aleksey Vladimirovich Zatsepin is a Russian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. He is a five-time Russian champion in freestyle relays and individual medley (2000–2005). He also won a gold medal, as a member of the Russian team, in the 4×200 m freestyle relay (7:28.25) at the 2002 European Junior Swimming Championships in Linz, Austria.

Hanna Miluska is a Swiss former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events and open water marathon. She is a two-time medalist in the 5 km open water at the World and European Championships. Miluska is also a member of Beider Basel Swimming Club, and is trained by her long-time coach Axel Mitbauer. She is also the daughter of former rower Ivan Miluška, who played for Czechoslovakia in the men's pairs at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City.

Dmytro Yuriyovych Vereitinov is a Ukrainian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He currently holds a Ukrainian record of 7:21.42 in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay at the 2005 FINA World Championships in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Vereitinov is also a member of SC Ukraina Kharkiv, and is trained by his father and lifelong coach Yuriy Vereitinov.

Luís Miguel Rodrigues Monteiro is a Portuguese former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He is a fourth-place finalist in the 200 m freestyle (1:52.33) at the 2001 European Junior Swimming Championships in Valletta, Malta. Monteiro is a member of the swimming team for Football Club Porto, and is trained by long-time coach and mentor Rui Sardinha.
