David Emmanuel Ombugadu is a Nigerian politician who was a Member of House of Representatives Nigeria representing Akwanga, Wamba and Nassarawa Eggon federal constituency from 2011 to 2019. He contested as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (Nigeria)(PDP) for Nasarawa state in the 2019 and 2023 general elections.

Early life and education

Emmanuel Ombugadu was born January 10, 1978. He attended LEA Primary School Kakuri in Kaduna State. [1] [2] In 1995, he attended Government College Keffi where he obtained his SSCE certificate. He then proceeded to the University of Jos to get a bachelor's degree (Bsc.) in Economics in 2001. [3]

He later proceeded to do his NYSC in 2003. He proceeded to doing his masters (Msc.) at Rivers State University of Science and Technology. [4]

Political career

Emmanuel Ombugadu was a committee member in the privatization and commercialization committee, [5] rules and business committee [6] and public accounts committee until May 2015. [7] [8]

He then proceeded to take his political career further by running for Nasarrawa House of Representatives [9] from 2011 – 2015 [10] and again from 2015 – 2019. [11]

In 2019 and 2023 Ombugadu contested for the office of Nasarawa State Governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (Nigeria).

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections were held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.

The 2023 Nasarawa State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Nasarawa State, concurrent with elections to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Abdullahi Sule is eligible to run for re-election and has been renominated by his party.

The 2015 Nigerian Senate election in Kaduna State was held on March 28, 2015, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Kaduna State.
