David Christie Ross (born 11 November 1949) is a South African politician currently serving as a councillor for the Democratic Alliance in the Nala Local Municipality. He previously served as a member of the National Assembly from 2009 until 2019.
Ross entered the National Assembly on 1 December 2009;he filled the casual vacancy that arose when Cobus Schmidt died. [1] Ross was appointed to the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Deputy Minister of Energy as part of a major reshuffle done by DA parliamentary leader Athol Trollip in September 2010. [2] in February 2012,Ross was appointed to the role of Shadow Deputy Minister of Finance by newly elected parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko. [3]
After Ross was re-elected for a full term as a Member of Parliament in the 2014 general election, [4] he remained as Shadow Deputy Minister of Finance. [5] The following year,DA leader Mmusi Maimane reshuffled his cabinet which saw Ross become a DA representative on the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. [6]
In October 2015,Ross wrote SCOPA chairperson Themba Godi requesting that the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Transport Dikeledi Magadzi appear before the committee for postponing hearings into the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa's financial misconduct. [7]
Ross unsuccessfully stood for re-election to the National Assembly in 2019,having been ranked low on the DA's candidate lists. [8] Ross was then sworn in as a DA councillor in the Nala Local Municipality. He was elected a full term in council in 2021. [9] By 2023,he was serving as the chairperson of the municipality's Finance Committee. [10]
South Africa's Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet consists of Members of the National Assembly who scrutinise their corresponding office holders in the executive branch of government and develop alternative policies for their respective portfolios. The Democratic Alliance (DA) retained their position as official opposition in the 2019 general election and Mmusi Maimane announced his shadow cabinet on 5 June 2019.

Kevin John Mileham is a South African politician,a Member of the South African Parliament for the Democratic Alliance and the Shadow Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy. After the 2014 National Elections,he was appointed the Shadow Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. In February 2019,he was appointed as Shadow Minister of Energy. After the National and Provincial Elections on 8 May 2019,Mileham was appointed as Shadow Minister of the expanded portfolio of Mineral Resources and Energy.
The Shadow Cabinet of Mmusi Maimane was formed on 5 June 2014 in South Africa following his election as Parliamentary Leader of the Democratic Alliance and Leader of the Opposition on 29 May 2014. The Democratic Alliance parliamentary caucus also elected other caucus leadership. John Steenhuisen was elected Chief Whip with Anchen Dreyer as Caucus Chairperson. These elections all occurred following the 2014 general elections,in which the Democratic Alliance retained its post as the Official Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa.
Thomas Charles Ravenscroft Walters is a South African politician of the Democratic Alliance (DA) who has been serving as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since May 2014. He served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014. In 2012,Walters was elected Deputy Federal Council Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance,and has been deputising Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille since 2019.
