The 2007 floor crossing window period in South Africa was a period of 15 days, from 1 to 15 September 2007, in which members of the National Assembly and the provincial legislatures, and municipal councils were able to cross the floor from one political party to another without giving up their seats. The period was authorised by the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution of South Africa, which scheduled regular window periods in the second and fourth September after each election. The previous general election had been held on 14 April 2004, and a previous window period had occurred in September 2005.

The African People's Convention is a South African political party formed by Themba Godi, former deputy leader of the Pan-Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) via floor-crossing legislation, on 4 September 2007. Godi defected along with the PAC's only two provincial representatives, Eastern Cape MPL Zingisa Mkabile and Gauteng MPL Malesela Ledwaba. Godi is the current leader of the APC. The party retained its seat in the National Assembly in the 2009 elections, although it lost both of its representatives in the provincial legislatures of Gauteng and Eastern Cape.

The 27th South African Parliament is the sixth Parliament of South Africa to convene since the introduction of non-racial government in South Africa in 1994. It was elected in the general election of 8 May 2019 and consists of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. The National Assembly contains 400 members, while the National Council of Provinces contains 90 members. It was formally opened by President Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address in a joint sitting on 20 June 2019.
Mkhuleko Hlengwa is a South African politician who serves as a Member of the National Assembly for the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP). He is the Chairperson of parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA). He became a Member of the National Assembly in February 2012 and has served on the SCOPA committee since 2014. Michéle Odette Clarke is a South African politician. A member of the Democratic Alliance, Clarke served as a councillor in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality from 2004 until her election to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature as a DA representative in 2014. After serving one term in the provincial legislature, Clarke was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in 2019. She currently serves as Shadow Minister of Health after previously serving as Shadow Deputy Minister of Public Service and Administration and as Shadow Deputy Minister of Public Enterprises.
Johan Pieter Gelderblom is a South African retired politician. A former member of the New National Party, he served as a party representative in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. From 2001 to 2004, he served as the Western Cape Minister of Agriculture and Tourism, and Environmental Affairs. After the 2004 election, he became the chairperson of the provincial parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA). He joined the African National Congress in 2005. Gelderblom served as an ANC MP from 2009 to 2014.
Francois Beukman is a South African attorney and former politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 1999 to 2009 and again from 2014 to 2019.
Mofihli Thomas Likotsi is a South African politician who served in the National Assembly from 2004 to 2009. A former secretary-general of the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), he represented the PAC in Parliament until September 2007, when he, with Themba Godi, crossed the floor to the African People's Convention (APC). Likotsi subsequently rejoined the PAC, but in 2019 he joined the African Transformation Movement (ATM).
Raenette Taljaard, also known as Raenette Gottardo, is a South African academic and former politician. She represented the Democratic Party (DP) and Democratic Alliance (DA) in the National Assembly from June 1999 until her resignation at the end of 2004. She later served stints as director of the Helen Suzman Foundation and as a member of the Electoral Commission of South Africa.
Mmutlanyane Stanley Mogoba is a retired South African politician and Methodist minister. He was the president of the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) from 1996 to 2003 and represented the party in the National Assembly from 1997 to 2004. A former anti-apartheid activist and alumnus of Robben Island, he was presiding bishop of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa from 1988 until 1996.
Christopher Mark Lowe is a South African politician. He represented the Democratic Party (DP) and Democratic Alliance (DA) in the National Assembly from 2001 to 2009, serving the KwaZulu-Natal constituency. Before that, he represented the DP in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 1999 to 2001 and was a long-serving local councillor in Durban.
David Christie Ross is a South African politician currently serving as a councillor for the Democratic Alliance in the Nala Local Municipality. He previously served as a member of the National Assembly from 2009 until 2019.
