David Zimmerman is an American author originally from Georgia. His first novel, The Sandbox, about an American soldier stationed in Iraq, was published in 2010. His work has been reviewed by the Los Angeles Times as an "adroit" depiction of conditions for soldiers in Iraq [1] and by The New York Times . [2] His work has been discussed in The Dallas News, [3] has received a starred review from Publishers Weekly [4] and was reviewed by Booklist as a portrayal of "both the eternal verities of war as well as the stark differences that each war imposes on the young who do the fighting". [5] Currently,[ when? ] he is an English professor in Ames, Iowa. He taught creative writing in spring 2016 at Iowa State University.[ citation needed ]

Education

Zimmerman attended Emerson College for film studies and went on to earn an MFA in creative writing at the University of Alabama. [6]

Career

He has worked as a publicist at St. Martin’s Press in New York City and taught writing at Georgia Southern University, Dilla University College in Ethiopia, South College in Savannah and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he was also a fiction fellow at the Wisconsin Institute of Creative Writing. Robin Hemley

Robin Hemley, born in New York City, is an American nonfiction and fiction writer. He is the author of twelve books, and has had work published in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Creative Nonfiction, Brevity, Conjunctions, The Sun, and Narrative, among others. Since 2004, he has served as the Director of the Nonfiction Writing Program at the University of Iowa.

Joanna Furhman is an American poet and professor. She is the author of five collections of poems and her poems have appeared in literary magazines and journals, as well as in anthologies. Fuhrman is a member of the Alice James Books Cooperative Board, and poetry editor for Boog City, a community newspaper for the Lower East Side in New York. Matt Gallagher

Matt Gallagher is an American author, former U.S. Army captain and veteran of the Iraq War. Gallagher has written on a variety of subjects, mainly contemporary war fiction and non-fiction. He first became known for his war memoir Kaboom (2010), which tells of his and his scout platoon's experiences during the Iraq War. He works as a writing instructor at Words After War, a literary nonprofit devoted to bringing veterans and civilians together to study conflict literature.
