The Commission of Inquiry into the Education System of Kenya commonly referred to as the Davy Koech Commission was a Kenya Government Commission established on 15 May 1998 by the then President Daniel arap Moi. The commission was led by Dr. Davy Kiprotich Koech and was to investigated the question of the appropriateness of Kenya’s 8-4-4 education system [1]

Report

The commission completed its work in August 1999 and handed its report to the President in October 1999. some of the recommendations include;

  1. Replacement of 8-4-4 system with TIQET
  2. Expansion of compulsory basic education from 8 years to 12 years
  3. No examination between primary and secondary
  4. Reduction of subjects at secondary to ease curicculum
  5. Introduced a pre-university level to allow student to mature before going to university [3]

The National Statistical Commission (NSC) of India is an autonomous body which formed in June 2005 under the recommendation of Rangarajan commission. The NSC is currently headed by Prof. Bimal K. Roy who was appointed as Chairperson of the Commission on 15th July 2019 for a period of three years. Dr. Kiran Pandya, Shri Pulak Ghosh and Dr. Gurucharan Manna are other members of the Commission. Shri Amitabh Kant, current CEO of NITI Aayog is the ex-officio Member and Shri Pravin Srivastava, Chief Statistician of India and Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is Secretary to the Commission. The Chairperson of the Commission enjoys the status of a Minister of State and the Members of the Commission have the status equivalent to the Secretary to the Government of India. The Chairperson and the Members also enjoy a relative security of tenure as once they assume office, they can be removed only by the President after the Supreme Court of India has on inquiry held in accordance with the procedure Article 145 of the Constitution of India reported that they ought to be removed.

Dr. Fred Okengo Matiang'i is a Kenyan Cabinet Secretary. He is the current Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Security in Kenya. He assumed office on 7 July 2017 on acting capacity after the sudden Demise of Gen Joseph ole Nkaissery, making him hold two cabinet positions concurrently, that is in the ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government and Education, Science and Technology. He took up the full position of cabinet secretary for Internal Security and Coordination of National Government after being appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta in January 2018 in the president's second comprehensive cabinet appointments. On the 22nd of January 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta, through Executive Order Number 1 of 2019, appointed him Chairperson of the The National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee. The committee is composed of all Cabinet Secretaries, The Attorney-General and the Head of the Public Service who acts as the secretariat.

Filemona F. Indire Kenyan politician

Filemona F. Indire is a politician from Kenya. He served as a nominated Member of the Parliament of Kenya between 1983 and 1988. He was also Kenya's ambassador to Russia in the 1960s, during Kenya's first president Jomo Kenyatta's tenure. After that, he served as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi.

David Peter Simon Wasawo was a Kenyan zoologist, conservationist, and university administrator. After studying at Uganda's Makerere University he earned an M.A. at the University of Oxford and a PhD at University of London. He taught at Makerere University, and was professor and Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Nairobi, and later chancellor of Great Lakes University of Kisumu.

Governor of Nandi County

The office of the County Governor of Nandi is one of the State Offices in 47 devolved governments in 47 Counties of Kenya. The county governor and the deputy governor are the chief executive and the deputy chief executive of the county. The first Governor of Nandi is His Excellency Dr. Cleophas Kiprop Lagat who was elected on March 4, 2013 General Election, directly by the registered voters in the county. His deputy is Hon. Dominic Chepyagan Biwott who was his running mate. Dr. Lagat appointed, on 3 June 2013, the following 10 County Executive Committee(CEC) Members to representing their departments, in the exercise of the powers conferred to him by Article 179 (2) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya as read with sections 30 (2) (d), (e) and 35 of the County Governments Act, 2012, and upon approval by the Nandi County Assembly in its session. He later on appointed Chief Officers for respective Departments who are by law the accounting and authorized public officers.
