Dawn Dawson is an American voice talent, sports broadcaster and former jetski racer. She is the first International Jet Sports Boating Association sanctioned female announcer for jetski racing.
Dawson was born in Dallas, Texas to Donald Dawson and Barbara Dawson. Dawson cites physics and music as some of her interests. She has a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Business Administration, [1] [ self-published source? ] from Sul Ross State University.
Dawson started her career as a production manager at Pan Studios, where her professional mentor, Dale Nixon, introduced her to voice over work. She has lent her voice to multiple national ads, such as Spring Air Mattresses, Fruit Stripe gum and Mortgage Solutions Financial. [2] Her voice over work spans over two decades and includes car dealer groups and other categories in Canada and around the US.
Dawson started her own advertising agency in 1991 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her work has earned her an American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal [3] award for the Pikes Peak region, multiple Addy awards for creative and the Colorado Springs’ Gazette’s Best Of bronze medal award[ citation needed ]. Dawson’s agency work has also seen her receive the Colorado Springs Business Journal’s Top 40 Influential Women Award in 2000.
Dawson first raced in 1992. [4] She earned herself two world championship titles in Expert Women’s Ski class from the IJSBA in 1998 and 2000. [5] Her racing career also saw her win multiple top ten positions in Novice Women’s Ski and Expert Ski. Dawson is also one of the first women to race in the IJSBA Expert Men’s Ski category on the IJSBA National tour, winning a bronze medal in 1998.
Dawson, along with a team of jetski racing supporters in Florida, organized a premiere IJSBA sanctioned jetski racing event in 2018 called The Emerald Grand Prix [6] at the Flora-Bama, [7] in Pensacola, Florida.
Dawson is as an announcer for various jetski racing competitions across the world. Shortly after winning her first world title, she took to announcing with the encouragement of long time announcing partner, Mike Young, in 1998. She has announced for the NZJSBA, [8] AJSBA, [9] JSRA, IJSBA, Pro Watercross, UIM-ABP’S Aquabike World Championship (powerboating), Blowsion, [10] WCWA [11] and CIWA. Her most recent international broadcasting credit is the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, where she commentated the jetski races [12] at Ancol Beach.
A personal watercraft (PWC), also called water scooter, jet ski or sea-doo, is a primarily recreational watercraft that is designed to hold only a small number of occupants, who sit or stand on top of the craft, not within the craft as in a boat.
Jeannie Longo is a French racing cyclist, 60-time French champion and 13-time world champion. Longo began racing in 1975 and was active in cycling through 2012. She was once widely considered the best female cyclist of all time, although that reputation is now clouded by suspicion of doping throughout her career. She is famous for her competitive nature and her longevity in the sport — when she was selected to compete for France in the 2008 Olympics, it was her seventh Olympic Games; some of Longo's competitors that year had not yet been born when she took part in her first Olympics in 1984. She had stated that 2008 would be her final participation in the Olympics. In the Women's road race, she finished 24th, 33 seconds behind winner Nicole Cooke, who was one year old when Longo first rode in the Olympics. At the same Olympics, she finished 4th in the road time trial, just two seconds shy of securing a bronze medal. She is currently number two on the all-time list of French female summer or winter Olympic medal winners, with a total of four medals including one in gold, which is one less than the total number won by the fencer Laura Flessel-Colovic.
The Emerald Coast is an unofficial name for the coastal area in the US state of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico that stretches about 100 miles (160 km) through five counties, Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, and Bay, which include Pensacola Beach, Navarre Beach, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, and Panama City Beach. Some south Alabama communities on the coast of Baldwin County, such as Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan embrace the term as well.
Lindsey Caroline Vonn is an American former World Cup alpine ski racer on the US Ski Team. She won four World Cup overall championships—third amongst female skiers to Annemarie Moser-Pröll and Mikaela Shiffrin—with three consecutive titles in 2008, 2009, and 2010, plus another in 2012. Vonn won the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics, the first one for an American woman. She also won a record eight World Cup season titles in the downhill discipline, five titles in super-G, and three consecutive titles in the combined (2010–2012). In 2016, she won her 20th World Cup crystal globe title, the overall record for men or women, surpassing Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden, who won 19 globes from 1975 to 1984. She has the third highest super ranking of all skiers, men or women.
Trude Beiser is a former alpine ski racer from Austria. Born in Lech am Arlberg in Vorarlberg, she won two Olympic gold medals and a world championship. Beiser was the first female Austrian skier to win two Olympic gold medals at two Olympic Winter Games.
Downhill Racer is a 1969 American sports drama film starring Robert Redford, Gene Hackman and Camilla Sparv, and was the directorial debut of Michael Ritchie. Written by James Salter, based on the 1963 novel The Downhill Racers by Oakley Hall, the film is about a talented downhill skier who joins the United States Ski Team in Europe to compete in international skiing competitions.
Vibeke Westbye Skofterud was a Norwegian cross-country skier. She won gold in the 4 × 5 km relay at Vancouver in 2010. Her best individual finish at the Winter Olympics was eighth in the 30 km event at Salt Lake City in 2002.
Foluke Atinuke Gunderson is an indoor volleyball player who plays as a middle blocker for Japanese club Hisamitsu Springs. Born in Canada, she represents the United States internationally. Gunderson won gold with the national team at the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix, 2014 World Championship, the Rimini Volleyball Nations League, and the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, silver at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, and bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Her 2020 Olympics win allowed her to complete the trifecta of winning an Olympic bronze, silver, and gold medal.

Maria Olegovna Kochetkova is a Russian ballet dancer. She was a principal dancer with the San Francisco Ballet between 2007 and 2018, and with the American Ballet Theatre between 2015 and 2017. After that, she became a freelance dancer for several years, before joining the Finnish National Ballet in the 2020/21 season.

Mikaela Pauline Shiffrin is an American World Cup alpine skier who has the most World Cup wins of any alpine skier in history and is considered one of the greatest alpine skiers of all time. She is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist. She is a five-time Overall World Cup champion, a four-time world champion in slalom and a seven-time winner of the World Cup discipline title in that event. Shiffrin is the youngest slalom champion in Olympic alpine skiing history, at 18 years and 345 days.
Jet Ski Lady was an American-bred, Irish-trained thoroughbred racehorse, best known for winning The Oaks in 1991. In a racing career which lasted from June 1990 to October 1991 the filly ran ten times and won four races. After winning twice as a two-year-old, Jet Ski Lady competed against colts with mixed success in early 1991 before winning the Classic Oaks over one and a half miles at Epsom Downs Racecourse. Her winning margin of ten lengths was the second-widest in the race's history and her starting price of 50/1 made her the equal longest-priced winner of the Oaks on record. She subsequently finished second in both the Irish Oaks at the Curragh and the Yorkshire Oaks at York. She was retired to stud after finishing unplaced in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
Victoria "Tori" Pendergast is an Australian F58 athletics shot put competitor and LW12.1 classified Para-alpine skier. When she competed at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, she became Australia's first female sit skier at the Winter Paralympics. She competed in two events, finishing seventh in women's slalom sit-ski and tenth in the women's giant slalom sit-ski. She also won a silver and a bronze medal in the slalom and super-G at the 2013 North America Cup, and a bronze medal in the giant slalom at the 2013 IPC World Cup in Thredbo.

A paraplegic due to a motorcycle accident, Radetic competed during the 2014 and 2016 Invictus Games and is the winner of national and international extreme sports competitions.

Jet ski competitions at the 2023 SEA Games took place at Sokha Beach in Sihanoukville, Cambodia from 13 to 16 May 2023. Medals were awarded in 6 events. Jet ski made its debut competition this edition. The event was commentated by international jet ski racing announcer, Dawn Dawson.
