Dead by Wednesday (DBW) is an American heavy metal band from New Haven, Connecticut, formed in 2006. [1] The band's current lineup includes founding members Christian "Opus" Lawrence (drums) and Michael Modeste (bass), [2] along with Dave Sharpe (guitar) and Steve Alvarez (vocals).
DBW has released five full-length albums: Democracy is Dead (2006, Stillborn Records); The Killing Project (2008, Eclipse Records); [3] and The Last Parade (2011, Fake Four Inc.) and The Darkest of Angels (2016, EMP Label Group). Additionally, the band released its Death of the Rockstar [4] EP in 2014 via Ear One Productions, and has been featured on Hatewear Inc.'s Brutal New Music Compilations Vol. 1, 2, and 3. The fourth full-length album, Darkest of Angels, released May 2016 featured a variety of well known metal singers. [5] In 2019 the band released the eponymous album Dead by Wednesday through Combat Records. Extensive touring in support of Flotsam and Jetsam ensued.
Dead by Wednesday was formed by drummer Opus and his cousins David and Ceschi Ramos, who were the original vocalists for the band. While the Ramos cousins still make guest appearances, Joe Morbidelli [6] was the singer for most of the band's tenure until leaving in 2014 due to personal issues. [7] [8] Dead by Wednesday has toured across the United States multiple times, notably with Shadows Fall in 2014, [9] [10] Flotsam and Jetsam in 2015, and A Killers Confession in 2017. The band also played several dates for Mayhem Festival in 2015.
Before beginning to record Darkest of Angels, DBW parted ways with longtime guitarist Ross Ragusa. [11] Joey Concepcion joined on guitar and the band invited a variety of guest vocalists to collaborate on the album. Brian Fair (Shadows Fall), AK (Flotsam and Jetsam), John Arch (Fates Warning), Rob Dukes (Generation Kill, ex-Exodus), Carley Coma (Candiria), Waylon Reavis (ex-Mushroomhead), Sean Danielsen (Smile Empty Soul), Paul Stoddard (Diecast), Kris Keyes (ex-Gargantua Soul), Antony Hamalainen (Armageddon) and Ceschi Ramos each have featured tracks, as well as now-permanent singer Rob Roy. Darkest of Angels was released on May 20, 2016 and was distributed through David Ellefson (of Megadeth)'s EMP Label Group. [12]
In June 2016 Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy guitarist Marc Rizzo joined Dead by Wednesday as a second guitar player for a very brief time. [ citation needed ]
In August 2018, the band introduced their new guitarist Dave Sharpe of End-Time Illusion and formally of Blood Has Been Shed after Kyle departed in April. [13] In 2020 after the departure of Rob Roy, the band recruited multi-lingual vocalist Steve Alvarez [14] who has toured and recorded with the band ever since. In 2021 DBW toured with Puya in Florida [15] and is close to completing a follow-up 6th full length.
DBW has released several music videos; their video for "Pawns" [16] was featured on MTV2's Headbangers Ball, Havok TV, Music Choice, and Sirius Satellite's Liquid Metal. They also have videos for "When in Rome", "Will to Fight", "Godlike Feeling", and "All the World is Waiting", which were released on the heavy metal news site Metal Injection. In 2023, Dead by Wednesday embarked on a highly anticipated European tour, spanning 15 days and visiting eight countries. The tour kicked off in Frankfurt, Germany, and took the band to various notable venues across Europe, including KVO in Neuchatel, Switzerland, Castelnuovo and Fucecchio in Italy, Hildburghausen and Cham in Germany, Vienna in Austria, Doetinchen in the Netherlands, Wroclaw in Poland, Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic, and concluded in Hamburg, Germany.
The tour proved to be a resounding success for Dead by Wednesday, as they received an overwhelmingly positive response from audiences in each country. Their high-energy performances, combined with their powerful stage presence, helped them gain new fans and establish a solid fanbase in Europe. Overkill is an American thrash metal band, formed in 1980 in New Jersey. They have gone through many lineup changes, leaving bassist D.D. Verni and lead vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth as the only constant members. The band's current lineup includes Verni, Ellsworth, Dave Linsk on lead guitar, Derek Tailer on rhythm guitar and Jason Bittner on drums. Along with Nuclear Assault and Anthrax, the latter of whom would feature one-time Overkill lead guitarist Dan Spitz, the band is one of the most successful East Coast thrash metal bands, and they are often called "the Motörhead of thrash metal", based on their unique playing style, which was influenced by punk rock and the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM). The band has a notable mascot named "Chaly" who has appeared on many of their album covers.
Thrash metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by its overall aggression and fast tempo. Flotsam and Jetsam is an American thrash metal band that was formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1981. Before settling on its current name in 1984, the band had existed under three different names, Paradox, Dredlox and Dogz. Their current lineup includes vocalist Eric "A.K" Knutson, guitarists Michael Gilbert and Steve Conley, bassist Bill Bodily, and drummer Ken Mary. Flotsam and Jetsam went through several lineup changes over the years, leaving Knutson as the only constant member. They are also notable for featuring a then-unknown Jason Newsted, who was Flotsam and Jetsam's bassist from 1981 to 1986, when he left the band shortly after the release of their debut album to join Metallica.

Darkest Hour is an American metal band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1995. Though failing to break through early in their tenure, the band has received acclaim for their albums Undoing Ruin, Deliver Us, and The Eternal Return. Deliver Us debuted at number 110 on the Billboard album charts, with sales of 6,600, and their more recent effort The Eternal Return garnered them an even higher position in the Billboard album charts at number 104. Their latest album Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora charted at 42 on the Billboard 200, a peak for the band, and it marked a stylistic shift in the band's discography.
Raven are an English heavy metal band, formed in 1974 by the Gallagher brothers, bassist and vocalist John and guitarist Mark. They have released fifteen studio albums to date, and had a hit with the single "On and On". Unearth is an American metalcore band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1998. The group consists of lead guitarist Buz McGrath, vocalist Trevor Phipps, bassist Chris O'Toole, drummer Mike Justian and rhythm guitarist Peter Layman. They are currently signed to Century Media Records and have released eight studio albums. Their most recent studio album, The Wretched; the Ruinous, was released on May 5, 2023.
Exciter is a Canadian speed metal band from Ottawa, Ontario, formed in 1978. Named after a song by Judas Priest, they are considered to be one of the first speed metal bands and a seminal influence of the thrash metal genre.
