Julie Taymor is an American director and writer of theater, opera, and film. The role of the costume designer is to create the characters' outfits or costumes and balance the scenes with texture and colour, etc. The costume designer works alongside the director, scenic, lighting designer, sound designer, and other creative personnel. The costume designer may also collaborate with a hair stylist, wig master, or makeup artist. In European theatre, the role is different, as the theatre designer usually designs both costume and scenic elements.

Anthea Sylbert was an American film producer and costume designer, who was active during the "modern era" of American film. She was nominated twice for Academy Awards for Best Costume Design, first at the 47th Academy Awards for Chinatown (1974), and then at the 50th Academy Awards for her work on Julia (1977). In addition, she had more than ten credits as producer or executive producer, including for such works as CrissCross (1991) and the television film Truman (1995), the latter of which earned Sylbert an Emmy. At the 7th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards in 2005, Sylbert was an honoree, receiving the Lacoste Career Achievement award for film.

She is a frequent collaborator of actor Michael Douglas, having overseen the costume design for the films Fatal Attraction (1987), Wall Street (1987), Basic Instinct (1992), A Perfect Murder (1998), Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) and Behind the Candelabra (2013). She has also been a frequent collaborator of directors Jan de Bont and Paul Verhoeven, acting as costume designer on de Bont's films Speed (1994), Twister (1996) and The Haunting (1999), as well as Verhoeven's films Basic Instinct (1992), Showgirls (1995), Starship Troopers (1997) and Hollow Man (2000).
Luca Tranchino is an Italian production designer and art director. His film credits, as Production Designer, include movies such as The Legend of Hercules (2014), Unfinished Business (2015), The Ottoman Lieutenant (2017), The Doorman (2020). As Art Director, he has worked on films such as Gangs of New York (2002), Cold Mountain (2003), The Aviator (2004), Casanova (2005), Hugo (2011), To Rome with Love (2012), Seventh Son (2015). In 2011 he has won The ADG Excellence in Production Design Award for a Period Feature Film, for Hugo. In 2016 he has designed Sets for the television drama Prison Break and in 2020 for the Historical TV Series Domina for Sky Atlantic. He is presently working on the Netflix TV Series "The Decameron".
The Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in Period Film is one of the annual awards given by the Costume Designers Guild. Before 2005, the category was combined to also include fantasy films. The 1998 inaugural awards year combined period, fantasy and contemporary films.
Soyon An is a Korean-American costume designer for television and film. She is a two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner.
