Debre Merqorewos

Debre Merqorewos is a monastery near the town of Areza in the Debub region of Eritrea. It was founded during the same time period as Debre Mariam. Among the monastery's notable qualities are its age and its association with the House of Ewostatewos. It maintained its land holdings until they were nationalized by the Derg during the Eritrean War of Independence. [1]

Debre Libanos of Ham is the second-oldest monastery in Eritrea after Debre Sinia. It is part of the Eritrean Orthodox Church. It is a strict monastery, where the monks are expected to plow the fields. This monastery should not be confused with the Däbrä Libanos monastery of Ethiopia.

He founded the monastery of Debre Mariam in 1374, which is located in modern-day Eritrea. He was captured by the soldiers and tortured on the wheel, then he was thrown on the stove. He endured all the tortures patiently and then was beheaded.
