Delaware is a Norwegian indie/alternative rock band from Drammen.
Delaware started out in 1994 in Drammen, Norway as Beyond, a punk/hardcore band who later developed a more pop/melancholic rock sound. Their original line-up consisted of Jon Fredrik "Joffe" Torgersen on vocals, Jørgen Nøvik on drums, Ronny Andreassen on bass, Erik Lauritzen on guitars and Kyrre Bekkelund on guitars. A year later, inspired by British “indie” rock from the 90s, the band began recording their first demo, Icons, while Richard Holmsen and Petter Laugerud replaced Lauritzen, shortly after Nøvik had moved on from the band to become a professional snowboarder and start his own music and art projects. Eager to get their music heard, Beyond self-released their debut and sold it in local shops and concerts. Their underground fan base began to grow.
In 1998, Beyond recorded their follow-up, Polyphonic, which they believed could be their major breakthrough. Before it could be released, a problem arose and the band had an important decision to make. Kyrre decided to leave the band to dedicate his time to his schooling. Feeling that they could not continue without him, Beyond disbanded and Polyphonic was scrapped.
The ex-members of Beyond decided to record another demo under the name of Delaware without Kyrre. The idea was to simplify the music – become a pop band and say in three minutes what Beyond said in seven. The band quickly earned recognition through major radio stations and websites in Norway. [1]
In 2001, Delaware was signed to Sony Columbia in Germany, who released the band’s debut album, ...And Everything Reminds Me , in 2003. However, prior to its release, Ronny Andreassen left the band and was replaced by Morten Ødegaard Skaret. Quickly reaching critical acclaim in Germany and Norway, the band toured Europe both as a headliner and as a support act. Not happy with the way Sony Germany promoted the album, Delaware left Sony in search of another label. Sadly this happened at the time the album was to be released on Sony Norway and the branch pulled the plug on its promotion. [2] [3]
Shortly after leaving the major, Delaware found their new home with the label Strangeways, also in Germany. While recording their second album, the band decided to use their rehearsal space in Drammen and only record the drums in a proper studio. This went against their method for the first album, in which they strived for perfection. Lost in the Beauty of Innocence would prove to be a much more ‘real’ sounding album through the way in which they approached the recording process and the fact that they deliberately kept the errors in the takes. Delaware called upon longtime fan Alex Møklebust to produce the album.
After hearing a demo of the new album, Metropolis Records decided to sign the band for North America. Both Strangeways and Metropolis released Lost in the Beauty of Innocence in 2006.
As of 2007 [update] Delaware was writing songs for their third album.
Produced by Alex Møklebust and partly recorded in the band's rehearsal room, two singles from Lost in the Beauty of Innocence were released from the album, "Wish for" and "The Fourteenth".

Delaware is named after the American state Delaware, but the band originally chose the name from an album by the band Drop Nineteens called Delaware. [4]

Tristania's music is usually classified as Gothic metal with death influences, due to its strong tie and legacy within the gothic metal history. Their songs largely dealt with dark and sentimental topics, including depression, sadness, suicide, love, absence, and anger.
Magne Furuholmen is a Norwegian musician and visual artist. Also known by his stage name Mags, he is the keyboardist of the synth-pop band A-ha and co-wrote hits such as "Take On Me", "Stay on These Roads", "Manhattan Skyline", "Cry Wolf", "Forever Not Yours", "Analogue ", "Minor Earth Major Sky", "Touchy!", "You Are the One", "Move To Memphis" and "Foot of the Mountain". Hans-Erik Dyvik Husby, also known as Hank von Helvete in Norway and Hank von Hell internationally, was a Norwegian singer best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Turbonegro. He was a member of Turbonegro from 1993 to 2010, appearing on six studio albums with the band, and later embarked on a solo career.
Electric Psalmbook is the second album by the Norwegian rock band BigBang, released in 1999. The album was produced by Nils B. Kvam and recorded at Athletic Sound in August 1998, with the exception of the song "Wild Bird", which was recorded at Oslo Lyd in December of that year.

Til ungdommen, also known by the words of the first line Kringsatt av fiender, is a poem from 1936 by Norwegian poet and writer Nordahl Grieg (1902–1943). It was set to music in 1952 by the Danish composer Otto Mortensen (1907–1986). The song has been recorded by various artists and has been sung at meetings held by various organizations. After the terror attacks of 22 July 2011, it was used in many memorial gatherings and services.

Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards in English, is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. The award was established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. First awarded in 1973, the prize honours musicians from the previous year; it is still awarded annually, usually in January or February. The Spellemann committee, composed of members of IFPI Norway and FONO, manages the award and acts as the judge. 21 categories are currently awarded, in addition to other honorary and industry awards the committee may give. In 2020 and 2021, the award show was held digitally due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Forente Artister was a group of Norwegian artists that went together in 1985 to record the song Sammen for livet in order to raise money for the victims of hunger in Africa. The lyrics were written by Halvdan Sivertsen and the melody by Åge Aleksandersen. This project was inspired by Band Aid and Forente Artister was thus part of a large humanitarian initiative. The project resulted in an album which in addition to Sammen for livet also consisted of several newly recorded songs by some of the participators. The song and the project received a special award in the Spellemannsprisen 1985.
Joshua Olav Daniel Hodne French is a Norwegian-British man who was convicted of murder in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He worked as a security contractor with his friend Tjostolv Moland when they were arrested in May 2009, and he was later convicted of attempted murder, armed robbery, the formation of a criminal association and espionage for Norway, of which he and Moland were found guilty and sentenced to death. In 2014 he was also convicted of the murder of Moland. He was released in 2017 after serving 8 years of his sentence, and returned to Norway.

Neograss is a progressive rock band from Norway, formed in 2010 with members Emil Bekkevold, Tore Morten Andreassen, Benjamin Mørk (mellotron/piano/keyboards) Åsmund Wilter Eriksson and Aleksander Kostopoulos (drums). The latter two are also known from the Sami group Adjágas. Neograss released their debut album "The Sea of Tranquility" in August 2010, where they try to blend two very seemingly so different genres: bluegrass and prog rock.
Marius Søfteland Neset is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone) living in Copenhagen. He is known from collaborations within the jazz bands "People Are Machines", "Kaktusch", "JazzKamikaze" and Django Bates projects "StoRMChaser" big band and "Human Chain". He is the son of music teachers guitarist Terje Neset and pianist Anne Leni Søfteland Sæbø, and the brother of the vocalist Anna Søfteland Neset flautist Ingrid Søfteland Neset.
Rolf Graf was a Norwegian singer, bass guitarist, composer and record producer, and the younger brother of keyboardist Haakon Graf and the jazz singer Randi Elisabeth Graf. He is best known as the bassist in the band Lava, but was also recognized as music producer, musician and songwriter for other artists like Randy Crawford, Mezzoforte and Sissel Kyrkjebø. He also released three solo albums and was editor of the journal Musikkpraksis.
Bokassa is a Norwegian rock band from Trondheim founded in 2013 by Jørn Kaarstad, Lars Erik Andreassen and Olav Dowkes. Originally, the band consisted of Jørn Kaarstad, Olav Dowkes (drums) and Lars Erik Andreassen (bass). In 2015, Eirik Angård replaced Lars Erik Andreassen. In 2016, Bård Linga replaced Angård. In 2024, Linga decided to leave the band on amicable terms. While no replacement has been officially announced, bass player Inge Morten Gustafsholm is touring with the band in 2024.
