The Ojibwe are an Anishinaabe people whose homeland covers much of the Great Lakes region and the northern plains,extending into the subarctic and throughout the northeastern woodlands. Ojibweg,being Indigenous peoples of the Northeastern Woodlands and of the subarctic,are known by several names,including Ojibway or Chippewa. As a large ethnic group,several distinct nations also understand themselves to be Ojibwe as well,including the Saulteaux,Nipissings,and Oji-Cree.
The Potawatomi,also spelled Pottawatomi and Pottawatomie,are a Native American people of the Great Plains,upper Mississippi River,and western Great Lakes region. They traditionally speak the Potawatomi language,a member of the Algonquian family. The Potawatomi call themselves Neshnabé,a cognate of the word Anishinaabe. The Potawatomi are part of a long-term alliance,called the Council of Three Fires,with the Ojibway and Odawa (Ottawa). In the Council of Three Fires,the Potawatomi are considered the "youngest brother". Their people are referred to in this context as Bodéwadmi,a name that means "keepers of the fire" and refers to the council fire of three peoples.
The Assembly of First Nations is an assembly of Canadian First Nations represented by their chiefs. Established in 1982 and modelled on the United Nations General Assembly,it emerged from the National Indian Brotherhood,which dissolved in the late 1970s.

The Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation are an Ojibwa people located on Georgina Island in Lake Simcoe,Ontario,Canada. In 2008,of the First Nation's registered population of 666 people,181 lived on,and 485 lived outside,their reserve. As of 2020,the band has a total population of 923 members. They are one of a handful of First Nations in the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area.

The Christian Munsee are a group of Lenape,an Indigenous people in the United States,that primarily speak Munsee and have converted to Christianity,following the teachings of Moravian missionaries. The Christian Munsee are also known as the Moravian Munsee or the Moravian Indians,the Moravian Christian Indians or,in context,simply the Christian Indians. As the Moravian Church transferred some of their missions to other Christian denominations,such as the Methodists,Christian Munsee today belong to the Moravian Church,Methodist Church,United Church of Canada,among other Christian denominations.
The Ipperwash Crisis was a dispute over Indigenous land that took place in Ipperwash Provincial Park,Ontario,on September 4,1995. Several members of the Stoney Point Ojibway band occupied the park to assert claim to nearby land which had been expropriated from them during the Second World War.

The name Mnjikaning,or fully vocalized as Minjikaning,refers to the fishing weirs at Atherley Narrows between Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching and it means "in/on/at or near the fence".

Anishinabek Educational Institute (AEI) is an First Nation-owned and controlled post-secondary institution in Canada. Indigenous institutes partner with colleges and universities to offer students degree programs,apprenticeships,certificate programs and diploma programs. AEI was founded to provide greater access to post-secondary education for First Nation peoples. AEI delivers post-secondary programs approved by the Ministry of Training,Colleges and Universities. Chippewas of the Thames First Nation is an Anishinaabe (Ojibway) First Nations band government located 24 kilometres (15 mi) west of St. Thomas,in southwest Ontario,Canada. Their land base is the 3,652.60 hectares Chippewas of the Thames First Nation 42 reserve,which almost entirely surrounds the separate reserve of Munsee-Delaware 1. As of January 2014,their registered population is 2,738 people with 957 living on reserve.

RoseAnne Archibald is a Canadian First Nations advocate and politician who served as the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) from July 2021 to June 2023. She made history as the first female National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations. However,her tenure ended in June 2023 when she was ousted following a third-party investigation into her leadership. Consequently,she became the first AFN national chief to be voted out of office.
