Delhi 2 Dublin (sometimes abbreviated D2D) is a Canadian world music group formed in 2006 in Vancouver who play a fusion of Bhangra, electronic, funk, dub, reggae, hip hop, Celtic music and a mashup of other genres.
Delhi 2 Dublin was formed for a performance at the Vancouver Celtic Festival on 16 March 2006. The event was called 'Delhi to Dublin', which the group then took as their name. Founding members were Tarun Nayar (of Beats Without Borders cred), Sanjay Seran (at the time hailing from live bhangra act Signia), violinist Kytami, the late fiddle player Oliver Schroer and Adrian Blackhurst (also of Beats Without Borders). [1] Their music was well received, and they began to play various venues, block parties, and festivals around Vancouver. Within their first few months, their lineup solidified to Tarun Nayar (tabla, electronics), Sanjay Seran (vocals), Kytami (violin), and new members Andrew Kim (sitar, guitar) and Ravi Binning (dhol). Their first big break was opening the Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on 1 July 2007. The crowd was estimated at 150,000 and the show was broadcast live on national TV. At that point they had written only 3 songs. [2]
Since 2008 their touring has grown from mostly Canadian dates to a growing US and international presence. Their first tour outside North America was in Taiwan in August 2009. [3] They have since played in Dubai, Brunei, Indonesia (Bali Spirit Festival), Australia (Woodford Folk Festival), Germany (Popkomm), UK (Shambala, Solfest, Sunfest, Edinburgh Mela), Ireland, and Malaysia (MURfest); while continuing to play larger North American festivals such as Electric Forest (MI), Shambhala (BC), Calgary Folk Festival (AB) and the Santa Cruz Music Festival (CA). Their largest market is now California.
Their Delhi 2 Dublin debut album, released 13 December 2007, reached No. 3 on the Canadian world music charts, [4] and was heard on the radio from Japan, across North America and Europe. In November 2008 they released their second album, Delhi 2 Dublin Remixed, consisting of remixes of songs from their first album, and reached No. 1 on the CHARTattack world music charts [5] Their third album, Planet Electric, charted third on the Canadian world music charts. [6] The band kept this pace, producing a new album bi-annually and a remix album alternating years.
In 2014 they released their first live album, recorded at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC on their eighth birthday. [7] That year also brought the addition of Serena Eades on violin (in lieu of fiddle player Sara Fitzpatrick) and James Hussain on guitar. Jaron Freeman-Fox continues being a featured guest at select shows, along with former member Andrew Kim.
We're All Desi, was released on 18 September 2015 on Westwood Recordings. [8] Inspired by their favourite Bollywood records of the 1970s and their love of bass music, D2D teamed up with producer Nick Middleton (of The Funk Hunters) to create what they believe is their strongest offering yet. [9]
The band's latest album is We Got This. The 2019 album focuses more on a pop sound and has more English lyrics. [10]

Bhangra is a type of non-traditional music of Punjab originating in Britain, specifically Southall. It is a type of upbeat popular music associated with the Punjabi diaspora in Britain. The style has its origins in the folk music of Punjab as well as western pop music of the 1970s and 1980s. Prior to this musical fusion, Bhangra existed only as a dance form in the native Punjab. This Punjabi music was unique in that it was not traditional nor did it seek any authenticity. While the traditional folk music of Punjab has a set of melodies that are used by various singers, Bhangra was a form of strict "band culture" in that new melodies were composed for each song. Therefore, the musicians were as important as the singers.
Rajinder Singh Rai, better known by his stage name Panjabi MC, is a British-Indian recording artist, rapper, producer and DJ. He is best known for the worldwide 2002 bhangra hit "Mundian To Bach Ke", which sold 10 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time. Among other songs, he gained acclaim with the 2003 release "Jogi". AllMusic has called him "one of the most prominent names in bhangra".
Asian Dub Foundation (ADF) is an English electronic music band that combines musical styles including rap rock, dub, dancehall, ragga, and South Asian music. The group also includes traditional rock instruments such as electric bass and guitar, which acknowledges a punk rock influence. Their music is known for its dub-inspired basslines, guitar parts inspired by the traditional Indian instrument the sitar, and fast rapping.
Asian underground is a term associated with various British Asian and South Asian Canadian musicians who blend elements of Western underground dance music and the traditional Asian music of their home countries in South Asia. The sound has roots in the South Asian Diaspora, and many notable musicians within the genre are immigrants or children of immigrants. The first well-known mention was the compilation album Anokha - Soundz of the Asian Underground released in 1997 and masterminded by Talvin Singh and Sweety Kapoor. It is not a strict musical genre per se, since the specific sounds can vary wildly.
Hunterz is a British Asian urban musician with Indian pop and Bhangra influences but based in England. His grandmother moved from Kenya to the U.K. after her husband died. She had to sing to feed her six children. With an early training in Indian classical music from the Patiala Gharana, HunterZ has spent a life devoted to music. But born and brought up in the U.K., he joined private music schools to learn the guitar and keyboard. Hunterz raps and sings in English, Hindi and Punjabi in his albums.
Swami is a British Indian electronic music/ bhangra/ world music act from Birmingham, England. "Swami" is also the pseudonym of the DJ producer Diamond Duggal. Swami currently performs as a hybrid electronic DJ act with special world music guests and collaborations including Deep Forest and PunjabTronix.

Diamond Duggal also known as DJ Swami is a British-Indian music producer, composer, musician and AI researcher. He is an accomplished guitar player and multi-instrumentalist and toured as lead guitarist with Boyzone and Robbie Williams. Diamond is also co-founder of production duo Simon and Diamond with his brother Simon Duggal. As DJ Swami, he performs and records electronic, Indian Punjabi bhangra and South Asian music both as a solo artist and as band leader of UK electronic world music acts Swami and PunjabTronix. DJ Swami also tours and performs in collaboration with Deep Forest.

Navtej Singh Rehal, popularly known as Naf, is the lead singer of the Indo-Danish music band named Bombay Rockers. His co-partner is Thomas Sardorf. Rehal delivers the Punjabi vocals and plays guitar and keyboards in the band. His debut album Introducing has gone five times platinum with sales of over 100,000 albums. It was No.1 for 15 consecutive weeks on the Indian album charts.

Time* Sex* Love* is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter, released by Columbia Nashville on May 29, 2001. It rose to No. 6 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and produced two singles: "Simple Life," which peaked at No. 53 on the Hot Country Songs chart, and "This Is Me Leaving You", which failed to chart. Kyla Tamiko LeBlanc, better known by her stage name Kytami, is a Canadian musician. At the age of 23 she started playing in a band at the Dubh Linn Gate Pub. In 2002 she moved back to Vancouver and recorded her first album Conflation. In 2006 she co-founded the group Delhi 2 Dublin, but left in late 2010 to continue pursuing her solo career. The "Kytami" stage name blends her first and middle names. She is of mixed Japanese, Filipino, and English descent.
