Deliv Inc. was an American crowdshipping, same-day delivery startup, based in Menlo Park, California. [1] Deliv provided last mile transportation services. [2] Deliv was founded in 2012 by Daphne Carmeli, who also was CEO of the company, and offered same-day service to mall shoppers. [3] [4]

Deliv raised $12.35 million in funding from the four largest mall operators in the U.S., [5] as well as General Catalyst, Redpoint Ventures, Trinity Ventures, Operators Fund and PivotNorth as well as strategic investors including UPS, Google, Enterprise Holdings, and GM. [1] Deliv's drivers were required to undergo an extensive filtering process. [6] In 2017, the company announced an expansion of its service to 33 markets and 1,400 cities, up from 19 markets previously. [7]

In May 2020, Deliv announced Target buys delivery startup Deliv [8] with Carmeli and Deliv team joining the retailer. Target had previously acquired delivery companies Shipt and Grand Junction both in 2017. [9]

b8ta Retail in-service company

b8ta was a retail-as-a-service company which serve as presentation centers for consumer electronics and home goods. The company was founded in 2015 by Vibhu Norby, William Mintun, Phillip Raub, and Nicholas Mann. Its first location opened in Palo Alto in December 2015. Companies could pay to rent out space for their product to be displayed inside the locations, along with a tablet that each brand customizes with software. All of the products in stores were on display out-of-the-box and could be touched and demoed. The company also sold the products directly to consumers. Store employees, which the company calls "b8ta testers", assisted customers with demos and product information which is taught to them by companies with products on display. In November 2019, b8ta opened a fashion store named Forum in West Hollywood with the same business model.
