Denis McFadden (born 1946) is an Australian hairdresser-turned-businessman and entrepreneur. He is the founder, chief executive officer and franchisor of Just Cuts, a hairdressing franchise company based in Australia.
McFadden is a member of the Franchise Council of Australia's Hall of Fame, which honours outstanding performers in the franchising industry. [1]
McFadden completed his hairdressing apprenticeship with a Sydney hairdresser [2] before moving to London where he opened his first salon in the Marble Arch area, at the top of Oxford Street in the '60s.
In the late ‘70s, McFadden returned to his native Australia, opening a hairdressing salon in Sydney. In 1983, he spotted a gap in the market for quality, well-priced haircuts with no need to make appoints and Just Cuts was born. [2]
The first Just Cuts franchise was opened in 1990 and, as of October 2017, there are 200 Just Cuts salons across Australia and New Zealand. [3] In 2017, the company's annual revenue was reported to be $106m, placing the company at number 436 of The Australian Financial Review’s Top 500 Private Companies of Australia. [4]
In 2010, McFadden was one of the millionaires who featured on The Secret Millionaire Australia, a reality television show which aired on the Nine Network. The same year, McFadden featured in the book by Nick Gardner, How I made My First Million, 26 Self-made Millionaires Reveal the Secrets to Their Success [5] , a collection of stories of ordinary men and women who turned a simple idea into a successful business.
McFadden served on the board of the Franchise Council of Australia in the ‘90s and was the president of the New South Wales chapter for two years. [1] And in 2013, he was inducted into the Franchise Council of Australia's Hall of Fame which honours the franchising sector's outstanding performers [1]

Raffaele Claudio Carbosiero, known as Lino Carbosiero, is a British hair stylist of Italian origin, currently working at the famous Daniel Galvin hair salon in London. He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2014 New Year Honours for services to hairdressing.
The Secret Millionaire is a reality television show which originated in the UK, in which millionaires go incognito into impoverished communities and agree to give away tens of thousands of pounds. Members of the community are told the cameras are present to film a documentary. The UK version is produced by production company RDF Media. It first aired in 2006 on Channel 4, with further series in subsequent years.
Tabatha Coffey is a United States-based Australian hairstylist, salon owner, and television personality. Her participation as a contestant on the television show Shear Genius in 2007 led to her own fame in the U.S. She was given a television show, Tabatha Takes Over (2008–13), which aired on the US cable television network Bravo. A similar series, Relative Success with Tabatha, aired on Bravo in 2018.
Martha Matilda Harper was an American businesswoman, entrepreneur, and inventor who launched modern retail franchising and then built an international network of 500 franchised hair salons that emphasized healthy hair care. Born in Canada, Harper was sent away by her father when she was seven to work as a domestic servant. She worked in that profession for 25 years before she saved enough money to start working full-time producing a hair tonic she invented. The product, and the creation of special hair salons that utilized it, was successful. Harper began franchising the salon model to low-income women, and by its peak the company included more than 500 franchises and an entire line of hair care products.

Ria Iris Daphne Bond is a New Zealand politician and former hairdresser. She was appointed to the House of Representatives as a New Zealand First list MP following Winston Peters winning the March 2015 Northland by-election. She now serves as an Invercargill City Councillor after an unsuccessful bid for the 2022 Invercargill mayoral election but a successful attempt to obtain a seat on the city council.
