Denis Reardon was a Welsh boxer. He was Wales' first boxing gold medallist at the British Empire Games (now the Commonwealth Games). [1] [2]
Reardon became the first Welsh winner of a gold medal for boxing at the middleweight boxing in the 1938 British Empire Games. [3] Reardon defeated Maurice Dennis in the middleweight final at the 1938 Sydney games. [1]
He was inducted into the Welsh Boxing Hall of Fame in 2008. [4]
Robert Chad McCracken is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1991 to 2001, and has since worked as a boxing trainer. He once challenged for the WBC middleweight title in 2000. At regional level, he held the British super-welterweight title from 1994 to 1995; the Commonwealth middleweight title from 1995 to 1996; and once challenged for the vacant European middleweight title in 2001.
James William Llewellyn Alford was a Welsh track athlete who was born in Cardiff, Wales. In 1938 Alford won the Mile Empire Games gold medal in Sydney, becoming the first athlete in a Welsh vest to strike gold in the Empire Games. He was also a member of the British 4 x 1500 metre team that broke the world record. At home he won 11 Welsh titles in disciplines ranging from the 440 yards to cross country. He became first national coach for athletics in Wales in 1948 and is a member of the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame.

Richard McTaggart, MBE is a Scottish retired amateur boxer. He competed in the 1956 and 1960 Olympics in the lightweight division and won a gold and a bronze medal, respectively. In 1956 he received the Val Barker Trophy for best boxing style at the Olympics. At the 1964 Olympics McTaggart moved to the light-welterweight category, but lost in the third bout to the eventual winner Jerzy Kulej. McTaggart won the British ABA title in 1956, 1958, 1960, 1963 and 1965, and retired with a record of 610 wins out of 634 bouts.
Antony Morgan "Tony" Madigan was an Australian boxer and rugby player. He competed in boxing at the 1952, 1956 and 1960 Olympics and finished in fifth, fifth and third place, respectively. In 1960 Madigan lost his semi-final to Muhammad Ali. He also won medals at three Commonwealth Games in the light-heavyweight division – a silver in 1954 and gold in 1958 and 1962.
Vikas Krishan Yadav is an Indian boxer from Bhiwani district in Haryana, the hub of some of India's best boxers. He won a gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games in the Lightweight category and a gold medal in 75 kg weight category at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He is one of the best boxers of India. He also played professional boxing.
Thomas Glanville Davies was a Welsh Middleweight boxer. Davies was Wales middleweight champion from 1943 until his retirement in 1949. He successfully defended his title on four occasions. Davies was considered a serious contender for the British Middleweight title, but a string of three fights against Vince Hawkins during 1944 robbed him of his chance of a title fight.
Freddie William Evans is a British professional boxer fighting in the 69 kg welterweight category. As an amateur, he won gold at the 2007 World Cadet Championships in Hungary and won gold for Wales at the 2011 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Ankara. He was the first Welsh boxer to achieve the feat in 86 years.
Gerry Gratton was a Canadian Olympic weightlifting medallist. He won a gold medal at the 1950 British Empire Games alongside a silver at the 1952 Summer Olympics and a gold at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. Gratton was inducted to the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1955 and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.

Joe Cordina is a Welsh professional boxer. He is a two-time super-featherweight world champion, having held the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title since April 2023 and previously in 2022. At regional level, he held the British and Commonwealth lightweight titles between 2018 and 2019. As an amateur, he won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and gold at the 2015 European Championships, both in the lightweight division. He also represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Lauren Louise Price is a Welsh professional boxer, former amateur boxer and former kickboxer and footballer. She has held the British welterweight title since May 2023, and is the first female to hold the title. While representing Wales in the amateur sport she won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, becoming the first Welsh woman to win a Commonwealth Games boxing medal. Four years later she surpassed this achievement by winning gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, followed by a gold at the 2019 World Championships. While representing Great Britain, she won gold medals at the 2019 European Games and 2020 Summer Olympics.
Harold Mann was a Canadian boxer. He was born and raised in Prince George, British Columbia and lived most of his life there. He took up boxing at the age of 11 and as a young amateur won four provincial titles and three national titles. In 1962 as a light middleweight he won the gold medal at the British Empire Games in Perth, defeating Brian Benson of Rhodesia and Nyasaland in the final. His overall record as an amateur was 82-8. From 1963 until 1967 he boxed professionally, going undefeated in 12 bouts. Following his retirement from competition, he coached for many years. In 2006 he was inducted into the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame.
Arthur Sutherland was a New Zealand amateur boxer, who represented his country at the 1938 British Empire Games, and won one national amateur title in the middleweight division.
Ioan Croft is a Welsh amateur boxer who won a bronze medal at the 2022 European Championships. His twin brother, Garan, is also an amateur boxer.
Ornella Sathoud is a Ghanaian amateur boxer. She is competing in the women's middleweight division in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
