Dennis Moran, (born 22 January 1977) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played in the National Rugby League for the Parramatta Eels club and in the Super League for the London Broncos and the Wigan Warriors clubs, usually in the halves.
While attending Duval High School, Moran played for the Australian Schoolboys team in 1995. [2]
Moran made his National Rugby League début for the Parramatta Eels during the 1998 NRL season, eventually making 35 appearances for the club including the 18-16 1999 preliminary final defeat against Melbourne after Parramatta were winning 16-6 at halftime. In the first half of the match, Moran knocked the ball on over the try line after a pass from Nathan Cayless found him unmarked. [3]
After that, Moran moved to England to play in the Super League for the London Broncos from 2001 to 2004.
Moran signed for Wigan Warriors on a two-year contract from London Broncos in November 2004. [4] Moran replaced Wigan's Papua New Guinea player Adrian Lam, who had retired at the end of 2004's Super League IX. Moran had spent four seasons at the Broncos, making 113 appearances and scoring 75 tries. Moran topped the Super League try scoring tables in 2002 and 2003 and was the Broncos top scorer in 2004 with 19. Moran was released by Wigan Warriors on 25 May 2006 and was replaced by Michael Dobson. The following day he was signed by the Widnes Vikings in a bid to help them get their season back on track. [5]
According to the Widnes World, Moran said "I've come here to try and help out as much as I can to get this club back into Super League." He earned a place in the 2006 National League One Dream Team. [6] Moran was a revelation with Widnes in 2007 winning the National League One player of the year award.
Moran retired in 2008 whilst playing for the Leigh Centurions. Since then, Moran moved back to his native Australia and has taken up a coaching career.
Since retiring from playing Moran has followed many other former professional players into the coaching ranks. His current roles (2012) include being the head coach of the women's indigenous NRL All Stars team who play as a curtain raiser before the men's All Stars take to the field. [7]
Timothy Aiden Smith is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. He previously played for Super League clubs Wigan Warriors and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats (twice), and Salford Red Devils, and in Australia for the Parramatta Eels and the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks of the National Rugby League in the NRL. Smith's usual position was in the halves.
David Ioane Vaealiki is a New Zealand former rugby league and rugby union footballer who most recently played for SC Albi. He has represented New Zealand in rugby league and previously played in the National Rugby League in Australia and in the Super League, primarily as a centre.
Thomas James Leuluai is a New Zealand professional rugby league coach who is the assistant coach of the Wigan Warriors in the Betfred Super League and a former professional rugby league footballer who played for New Zealand at international level.
Adrian Lam is a Papua New Guinean professional rugby league coach, and former player, who is currently the head coach of the Super League club Leigh Leopards.
Brett John Finch is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. A New South Wales State of Origin representative half back, he played in the National Rugby League for Australian clubs the Canberra Raiders, Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels and Melbourne Storm. Finch also played in the Super League for English club the Wigan Warriors.
Feleti Sosefo Mateo is a former Tonga international rugby league footballer. He played a variety of positions from lock, second-row and five-eighth. Mateo was also selected to represent NSW City Origin and the NRL All Stars. He last played for English club Salford Red Devils of Super League in 2016. Before that, he played for Sydney club the Parramatta Eels between 2004 and 2010. He also played for the New Zealand Warriors between 2011 and 2014, and the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in 2015 and 2016 before moving back to England and finishing his top-level career with Salford. Mateo was renowned for his versatility and extravagant style of play.
Mark Robert Riddell is an Australian rugby league commentator and former professional player who played as a hooker in the 2000s and 2010s. A City New South Wales representative goal-kicker, he played in the National Rugby League for the St. George Illawarra Dragons, Parramatta Eels and the Sydney Roosters, and in the Super League with the Wigan Warriors.
Krisnan Nevada Inu is a former professional rugby league footballer who is currently Assistant Coach at Salford Red Devils. He has played for both New Zealand and Samoa at international level.

The 2017 NRL season was the 110th season of professional rugby league in Australia and the 20th season run by the National Rugby League. The season started in New Zealand with the annual Auckland Nines, and was followed by the All Stars Match, which was played at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, and the World Club Series. It marked the last time that the Anzac Test and City vs. Country representative matches were played.
