The Department of Urban Development (IAST: Nagara Vikāsa Vibhāga), often abbreviated as DoUD, is a department of Government of Uttar Pradesh responsible for formulation and administration of the rules and regulations and laws relating to the local bodies (town areas, municipal councils and municipal corporations) and urban development in Uttar Pradesh.
Retired IAS Arvind Kumar Sharma serves as the departmental cabinet minister, and the Principal Secretary (Urban Development), an IAS officer, is the administrative head of the department.
The department is responsible for making and implementing laws and policies relating to Urban Development. [2] The Department of Urban Development, through the Directorate of Local Bodies, is also responsible for proper functioning of local bodies, especially the Municipal Corporations, by providing financial assistance and other type of grants to local bodies. [2] [3] In addition the department is also responsible for providing cities with proper sanitation, infrastructure and other civic amenities. [2]

Yogi Adityanath is an Indian Hindu monk and politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party who has been serving as the 21st and current chief minister of Uttar Pradesh since 19 March 2017. He is the longest serving chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, who is currently running his tenure for over six years, surpassing Sampurnanand.

Arvind Kumar Sharma is an Indian politician from Uttar Pradesh, Former IAS officer and Bureaucrat. He is currently the Cabinet Minister in Uttar Pradesh. Before joining politics, Sharma was an Indian Administrative Service officer from Gujarat Cadre of the 1988 batch. Sharma is considered a close aide of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi with whom he had worked for 20 years. He was also CEO, Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board and has also managed multiple Vibrant Gujarat summits. He joined the Prime Minister's Office as a Joint Secretary in 2014 and was elevated to the Additional Secretary rank in 2017. In 2019, he moved out of the PMO to become a secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises but took voluntary retirement in January 2021.

The Second ministry of Yogi Adityanath is the council of ministers in headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which was formed after 2022 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election which was held in seven phases during February and March in the state. The results were declared on 10 March and this led to formation of 18th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The swearing-in ceremony was held at BRSABV Ekana International Cricket stadium, Gomti Nagar Extension in Lucknow.
