Derby Dinner Playhouse is a dinner theatre located in Clarksville, Indiana, that opened in 1974. The Derby is the only dinner theatre in the Louisville, Kentucky, area and in southern Indiana. [1]
In the early 1970s, several local business owners saw the need for an entertainment center that could host convention business, concerts and theatre productions. The Windmill Dinner Theatre group, which owned dinner theatres in Cincinnati and Indianapolis, constructed and managed the facility. [2] Carolyn Thomas, then Derby General Manager, partnered with Bekki Jo Schneider to buy the center in 1985. [3] As of 2009, Thomas was retired, but she and Schneider, who produces and oversees all aspects of the business, still own over 50% of the company. The other half is owned by small investors. [1]
Derby Dinner offers a freshly prepared homestyle American buffet featuring fried chicken, fish, roast beef, a salad bar, hot rolls and beverages. Bountiful desserts, including the famous peanut butter pie, are a tradition. A full bar is also available. The "Footnotes" vocal ensemble entertains patrons prior to the performance. [3]
The venue uses the theatre-in-the-round configuration, and the actors are professionals. [4] Performances are on Tuesday through Sunday nights, with matinées on Wednesday and Sunday. [5] Each year, the Derby presents eight mainstage shows, four Children's productions and ten concerts. [3]

Thunder Over Louisville, the annual kickoff event of the Kentucky Derby Festival, is an airshow and fireworks display in Louisville, Kentucky. It is generally held each April, about two weeks before the first Saturday in May, or Derby Day. In years where Easter Sunday falls on the usually scheduled weekend, Thunder is moved a week earlier. It is the largest annual fireworks display in North America and began as part of an opening ceremonies event in 1989 with daytime fireworks. 1990 brought the first nighttime fireworks event. It officially began in its current location along the Ohio River in 1991 with fireworks, and an annual air show was added in 1992.

The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is an educational and performing arts complex located at 500 South Goodwin Avenue in Urbana, Illinois and on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Herman C. Krannert, an industrialist who founded Inland Container Corporation and an alumnus of the university, and his wife, Ellnora Krannert, made a gift of $16 million that led to the Krannert Center's construction. Max Abramovitz, the architect who designed the facility, was also an Illinois alumnus.

Paper Mill Playhouse is a regional theater with approximately 1200 seats, located in Millburn, New Jersey on the Rahway River. Due to its relatively close location to Manhattan, it draws from the pool of actors who live in New York City. Paper Mill was officially designated as the "State Theater of New Jersey". From 1971 to 2008, Paper Mill held the New Jersey Ballet as its resident ballet company, with the annual production of Nutcracker until the premiere 25th Anniversary tour of Les Misérables took up the ballet's performance slot. Mark S. Hoebee serves as the producing artistic director, and is often credited as saving the Paper Mill during the financial crisis in 2008.
Green Tree Mall is an American shopping mall located in Clarksville, Indiana. The mall is located off of I-65 about four miles (6 km) north of downtown Louisville. It has a total area of 795,382 square feet (73,893 m2). It was named for a large boundary tree of considerable age that once stood at the location. Currently, there are more than 80 inline stores and 2 major anchor stores. The third anchor was Sears which closed on October 1, 2017. The mall is managed by Centennial Realty. Green Tree Mall is a retail anchor for the Clarksville area.

It is a professional dinner theatre, providing Broadway shows and children's theatre throughout the year. In 2019, the theatre hosted 149,700 guests. Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre is a member of Actors' Equity Association, the union for professional actors. The theatre gets its name "Beef" because of the hand-carved roast beef served before the performances, and "Boards" referring to the boards or stage of a theatre.

The company won the amateur competition at the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival an unprecedented six times and was called "one of the most highly acclaimed nonprofessional theatre companies in the UK". The company also won awards from the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera.
