Derek Lynch (born 16 June 1971) is a Canadian race car driver from Warkworth, Ontario who races in the NASCAR Pinty's Series. [1]

Racing career

Lynch began competing in the Busch North Series (now NASCAR K&N Pro Series East) in 1995. [1] He raced in 16 of 22 events with a second-place finish at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, pole positions at Holland International Speedway, Thompson Speedway and Beech Ridge, and a second Top 10 finish at Jennerstown Speedway to finish 16th in season points. [1] Lynch returned to the East series in 1996 racing in two events. [1] He had a single start in 2000 and recorded a ninth-place finish at Loudon. [1] He worked as a fabricator for NASCAR NEXTEL Cup teams Darrell Waltrip Motorsports in 1997 and 1998, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. in 1999, and Stavola Brothers Racing in 2000. [2] He returned to racing in 2001 and 2002 in the Ontario Super Late Model Series. [2]

Lynch raced in selected events and promoted at Kawartha Speedway before beginning to race in the CASCAR Super Series in 2005. [2] He competed in five of twelve events and had three Top 10 finishes at Toronto, Mosport, and Kawartha. [1] Lynch returned to CASCAR in 2006, racing in five of eleven events. He had one Top 10 finish that season with a fifth-place finish at Kawartha. [1]

CASCAR was purchased by NASCAR for the 2007 series and the series was renamed the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Lynch raced in all twelve races for the first time in his career and finished fifth in points with eight Top 10 finishes. [1] He earned his first career Canadian Tire Series win at Cayuga Speedway Park on September 1, 2007. [1] He was racing in third place in the final lap when Peter Gibbons and Jim Lapcevich spun while battling for the win. [3] Lynch drove in all thirteen Canadian Tire Series races in 2008 in finished eleventh in points. [1] He started the season with a fifth-place run at Cayuga, finished fourth at Barrie Speedway, and earned a season best third-place run at Cayuga's second race (Coke Zero 200). [1] Lynch competed part-time in the Canadian Tires Series in 2009; he finished between eleventh and eighteenth at each event. [4] He did not compete in a NASCAR series in 2010. [1]

NASCAR Pintys Series Canadian stock car racing series

The NASCAR Pinty's Series, commonly abbreviated as NPS, is a national NASCAR racing series in Canada, with one race in the United States, that is a continuation of the old CASCAR Super Series which was founded in 1981.

Delaware Speedway is a half-mile paved race track that is one of the oldest continuously operating tracks in Canada. It is located a few minutes west of London, Ontario northeast of Delaware, Ontario. It hosts stock car racing every Friday night during the summer. The track opened in 1952 as a quarter-mile dirt track that was paved in 1960. In August 1969, the track was expanded to a 1/2 mile paved oval and continues today.

Peter Shepherd III is a Canadian professional stock car racing driver. He is currently racing in the NASCAR Pinty's Series for Dave Jacombs Racing and in the APC Series in the #22 APC/Total Race Car].

Don Thomson Jr. is a Canadian former racing driver in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. He drove the No. 4 Home Hardware Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for Fitzpatrick Motorsports for more than two decades before moving over in 2011 to the drive the No. 8 Dodge becoming teammates with Jason Hathaway. He retired after the 2011 season after winning multiple championships.

Kawartha Speedway Racetrack

Kawartha Speedway is a 3/8 mile paved oval located in Fraserville, Ontario, approximately 10 km southwest of Peterborough. The paved track is within the harness racing track, temporary grandstands are brought onto the harness racing tracks surface. In 2006, Kawartha Speedway held the final CASCAR Super Series race before it became the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2007. Since 2004, Kawartha was the host of the CASCAR Super Series finale. Kawartha Speedway held the finale of the inaugural NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Season which was won by Scott Steckly. The following year, Jason Hathaway picked up his first ever win, and in 2009 D.J. Kennington won.

D. J. Kennington Canadian stock car racing driver

Douglas James "D. J." Kennington is a Canadian professional stock car racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Pinty's Series, driving the No. 17 Dodge Challenger for his own team DJK Racing. He won the 2010 and 2012 Pinty's Series championships. Kennington also competes part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 99 Toyota Supra for B. J. McLeod Motorsports, and part-time in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 77 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Spire Motorsports. He is the son of Doug Kennington, a CASCAR driver and founder of St. Thomas Raceway Park.

J. R. Fitzpatrick Canadian stock car racing driver

John Ryan "J. R." Fitzpatrick is a Canadian professional stock car racing driver. Fitzpatrick was the youngest driver to ever win the now defunct CASCAR Super Series championship, winning in the series' final season of 2006 at the age of 18.

2015 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series NASCAR season

The season consisted of 11 races at 10 different venues, of which 7 were held on ovals. It began with the Pinty's presents the Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on May 17 and ended with the Pinty's 250 at Kawartha Speedway on September 19. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin entered the season as the defending Drivers' Champion; 2015 was the final season that Canadian Tire sponsored the series, with Pinty's taking over the title sponsorship from 2016.

Derek White is a Canadian professional stock car racing driver. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 13 Toyota Camry and No. 40 Dodge Challenger as an owner/driver for MBM Motorsports.
