DesiRock is the third album by British-Indian producer DJ Swami's alternative bhangra group Swami and is also the title of the album's electro/ bhangra/ rock fusion lead track. It is their most popular album to date and voted as one of BBC Radio 1's best DJ tracks of the year. [1] It was also crowned the best album of the year by Eastern Eye newspaper. In the year after its release, producer DJ Swami won the Media Storm Best Producer award at the UK Asian Music Awards. [2]

The album was Swami's first in the band's current lineup. The album cover shows DJ Swami, flanked by the band's two vocalists, S-Endz and MC Sarpanch (who was removed from the band shortly after the release of this album).

DesiRock Entertainment is the name of DJ Swami's record label and music production company specializing in progressive South Asian electronic music.

DJ Vix Musical artist

DJ Vix, born and raised in the east of London is a British-Asian DJ/music producer known for his bhangra tracks, as well as his remixes that was taught by a special guru. In 1996, he formed Dhol n Bass Roadshow that won many awards in coming years. He has worked in many places across the globe including Vancouver, Rotterdam, Africa, Norway, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, LA, Chicago, Washington DC, New York, Jumeirah and Delhi. Guest mixes and shows on the Asian radio scene have included for the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 1xtra and BBC Asian Network. Signed up in 2002 by the internationally renowned Moviebox label, DJ Vix has received international recognition as a producer of mainstream Asian beats, with a style identical to none (album). Following on from his debut album DHOL N BASS UNCUT (2002), he produced his next three albums VIX IT UP (2004) and IDENTICAL 2 NONE (2007) and MOVIEBOX VIX TAPE (2008) with 'Ah Chak Bottle Daru Di' featuring Shin from DCS - the longest no.1 track on the BBC Asian Network that held top spot for a record-breaking 13 weeks. Diamond Duggal Musical artist

Diamond Duggal also known as DJ Swami is a British-Indian music producer, composer, sound designer and multi-instrumentalist. He has produced a diversity of award-winning global artists, including Shania Twain, Pras Michel, Apache Indian, Maxi Priest, Stereo Nation, Zoheb Hassan and Viktor Kiraly as well as remixing artists including Erasure, The Beat and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He has also performed and toured as lead guitarist with Boyzone and Robbie Williams. Diamond is also co-founder of production duo Simon and Diamond with his brother Simon Duggal. As DJ Swami, he performs and records electronic, Indian Punjabi Bhangra and South Asian music both as a solo artist and as band leader of UK electronic world music acts Swami and PunjabTronix. DJ Swami also tours and performs in collaboration with Deep Forest.

Johney Brar, also known as DJ JoN-E or "Johnny No Best", is a Canadian DJ, producer, writer and radio host. He was the host and executive producer of the primetime Desi Live Radio Program which first aired on CHRY 105.5FM then was nationally distributed in the United States on HD Radio in New York/New Jersey WRKS 98.7FM HD2, Washington WTOP 103.5FM HD2, Chicago WKQX 101.1FM HD2, San Jose/Bay Area KIOI 101.3FM HD2 and Los Angeles KPWR 105.9FM HD2. He is currently head of operations for Sixcity Media.

The Original Edit is the third official album by producer Dr. Zeus. All the vocals of this album were by Lehmber Hussainpuri. This album was released in May 2005 after much controversy. This album had no singles or music videos released because of the delay and big budget. This album was the reason for the breakup between two great bhangra performers: Lehmber Hussainpuri & Dr. Zeus

Desi Live Radio Program was the first nationally distributed South-Asian radio show in the United States. The show was produced and hosted by Johney Brar and distributed by HumDesi Radio Network in HD Radio format. The program first aired on CHRY 105.5FM then moved in 2008 to HD Radio airing in New York City/New Jersey - WRKS 98.7 FM HD-2, Los Angeles - KPWR 105.9 FM HD-2, Chicago - WKQX 101.1 FM HD-2, San Jose/Bay Area - KIOI 101.3 FM HD-2 and Washington - WTOP 103.5 FM HD-2.

Mumzy Stranger Musical artist

Muhammad Mumith Ahmed, known professionally as Mumzy Stranger or his producing name SP, is an English rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer, known for his distinctive soulful-bashment style. He made his mainstream recording debut in the summer of 2009 with his debut single "One More Dance", which topped the UK Asian Charts, as did the follow-up singles, "Showgirl" and "Fly With Me". Sagu has made a global name for himself as a leading Asian pioneer of fusion genre, his urbanized record production infuses the sounds and incorporates the elements, musical instruments, and hook lines of traditional bhangra with urban western sounds, primarily with a special emphasis on American hip hop.

UK Asian Music Awards Music Award held in the United Kingdom

The UK Asian Music Awards, also known by the abbreviation UK AMA, was an awards show that was held annually in the United Kingdom from 2002 to 2012. The awards show has been produced and broadcast by B4U Music since 2008. Awards winners were decided by public voting at a website, from a list of nominees presented by the event organizers, except for the special category awards "Outstanding Achievement" and "Commitment to Scene" which are decided by the organizers. Desimag called the event "The most prestigious Asian music awards ceremony in the UK".

Manni Sandhu Musical artist

Amrinder Singh Sandhu, also known as Manni Sandhu, is a UK-based music director. He is most known for working with a number of Punjabi singers such as Manak-E, the late Kaka Bhaniawala, Bakshi Billa, Prabh Gill, Lehmber Hussainpuri and many more. He released his debut album My Time in February 2012 which included his No. 1 single with Bakshi Billa "Sona", and hit song with Manak-E "Door Ni Kulne", as well as six further tracks that charted in the official UK Asian Music Download Chart. Since releasing his first album, he has worked with a number of singers such as Prabh Gill, and later released his third album Against All Odds in 2014.

Casey Rain British rapper

Casey Rain, also known as S-Endz and Turi is a British Asian vocalist, music producer, songwriter, YouTuber and radio presenter. He is best known as a member of the UK rap/alternative/bhangra band Swami and co-founder of the media collective The Violet Reality.

Baljit Singh Padam, better known by his stage name Dr. Zeus, is a British Indian music composer, singer and music producer. He rose to fame in 2003 with his song "Kangna", which was voted the best song on BBC Asian Network in the same year. His other hits are "Don't Be Shy" and "Jugni Ji", which won the best single award in 2012. He has worked with singer Kanika Kapoor for the song "Jugni Ji" and with musician Jaz Dhami for the song "Zulfa". His song "Aag Ka Dariya" features on the Four Lions film soundtrack. A music video was also produced featuring Czech model Yana Gupta and singers Ravindra & DJ Shortie.

Silinder Pardesi is a Bhangra singer-songwriter, lyricist, and composer from Coventry, West Midlands, England. He is the founder and lead singer of the highly acclaimed British Asian Bhangra band 'The Pardesi Music Machine'. In 1994 Silinder Pardesi moved onto pastures new and began his solo career. Over the past 30 years Silinder Pardesi has released over twenty albums and collaborated with an array of artists including Rishi Rich and Neeru Bajwa.

UpsideDown (DJ) Musical artist

UpsideDown is a Canadian producer and DJ of Indian descent. He primarily produces EDM, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop and Fusion Music and is influenced by American producers such as Kanye West, Dr Dre, Timbaland and others. UpsideDown's style of production consists of combining traditional instruments with modern rhythm and percussion.

Bups Saggu is a British Bhangra DJ, music producer and singer based in Wolverhampton, England.
