Dewahuwa is an area situated in the Matale District, Central Province, Sri Lanka.Dewahuwa is a colony project introduced in 1949. it is extended a tank as large scale tank and build an irrigation project. the area contain around 10000 acres. in this settlement project provided 5 acres field land and 3 acres housing land with a house per family. this area include Kosgahinna, Kumbukgolla, Bulanawewa, Dewahuwa colony 1, Dewahuwa colony 2, Makulugaswewa, in Matale district villages and Budugehinna, Narangaswewa, Moroththegama, Dembatagollegama in Anuradapura district Villages. This area has a Hospital, Bank, Post office, Polis Station. Today Dewahuwa area Population in Matale District Around 20000 most of them Sinhalese Around 16000 and Minorities Muslims 3000 and 50 tamils.
